Good things come to those who wait! Everybody post pics of your bargain bin Del Sols. Rattle can paint jobs and all!

One thing thats kinda nice about me painting the bay of my Integra is I have LOTS of leftover materials (hardener, thinner, ect) so I will have enough to paint another whole car (after I buy paint of course, which was only $30.00 a quart.)

So I'll have enough to spray Jelly!

Only parts I have to buy to get Jelly in tip top shape are:
- New corner lights
- Driver side fender
- Hood
- Gas door
- Antennae

I already have an OEM wing :]

But like I said, when I get my Integra up and driving around, I'll back off it (because I have alot to buy for it still, 3" exhaust, 3" turbo downpipe, wastegate relocation/dumptube... Plus alot of little stuff, not to mention all the fittings and braided lines I'm going to need for the fuel system.

Ugh, I have to spend too much money!!!

You asked for it lol

This pretty much how it sits today, except it's facing the other way and now has an engine sitting under the hood (barely, only top 2 side mounts).
Paid $500 for the rolling chassis, $400 for the rims, no comment on the price I paid for the pre-turbo'd D16. lol

You're project was part of my inspiration to build a budget del sol.

Now here is some good news from a guy living in Florida with temps reaching near 100 degrees (heat index over 100 degrees).

I'm gonna check into getting the AC fixed in Jelly! Yayyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Updates on that soon. My wife gave me permission so I'm jumping all over it before she changes her mind.

Christmas in June!!

It just so happens to be the same color as my wing. Different car, different seller. Coincidence? I think NOT! JK.

And a pic of my wing. Goblette approves of my purchases.

I didn't get my AC worked on because I remembered I don't have an AC tensioner: It fell off. So I researched what models I can pull one off of and I'm pretty sure they have one out at the junk yard, so I'm gonna go there tomorrow and see whats up.

As far as other AC news, I need a new drier and I'm going to buy a new orifice valve/temp sensor thingy. I'm going to gamble that my compressor and condenser are fine, though I am going to flush the system before I put my new parts on.

If they have my AC tensioner I will order my parts I need this week and see if I can't get it all put together next weekend. Though next weekend is a big work day on my Integra (be sure to check out my Integra build thread, it's getting good) so I may not have time for Jellybean.

We'll see.

Either way stuff is moving along on all fronts!

Well what years can you get a tensioner off of? because I'm pretty sure I have an extra for a 96-00 civic.

Yeah, that would work. But it's all good, I paid $20.00 for one today. I think thats kinda high. But I guess it kinda evens out because I've got a lot of stuff at the junkyard for free or at killer prices. Plus I found a really nice 4 way lug wrench somebody had left.

Coincidentally, they left their lug wrench at the same car that magically ate my 17mm socket. No lie, the car ate it. It just disappeared. I even think I head "nom nom nom". I searched everywhere and it was just gone. Ticked me off too. Anybody who's worked on cars enough has had the same thing happen.
-----------------------------

Anyway, in addition to getting the AC tensioner that I needed, I just purchased a new drier and expansion valve/orifice tube for Jellybean.

So this weekend I'm going to pull the AC box thingy that is located in the 7th circle of hell, which just so happens to reside under the dash of the car... Meaning it's super freaking stupid not-fun to get too. I hate doing anything under the dash of a car.

My parts will be in this week, which is cool. Ha, getting AC parts in is "cool".

Don't even act like you didn't think that was funny

So next weekend I will flush the AC system and install the new parts and charge it. Lets hope it works, it's freaking hot in Florida!

Updates as they come :]

Well I pulled the ac box thing that houses the expansion valve. I was stuck for a lil while, until I figured put that I have to disconnect the AC lines from the firewall.

Its out now, so I'm just waiting for parts, which the drier has shipped.

Also, installed the AC tensioner pulley, which sucked! But its on, so all is good. :]

Moar updates later!

hey, I use to have a del sol as my first car.... about 2 years ago, dad sold it cause of the speeding tickets, but now im 16 and more mature haha/ I wanna find one like you did but im in iowa and its reallllly hard.. in my city when I had the del sol, there were only 2 others

Really inspiring

Just take a grinder, and grind down the quater panel and then bondo it up, primer, and then paint it..

Have a good one! Keep us updated!

Glad I can inspire and thanks.

I'm also happy to say that I did some work on Jelly this weekend :] First off, I bought a AC tensioner from the junkyard for $20.00. Pricey lil thing.

Just look at this picture... I hate working on this side of Jelly. It's so cramped and full of suck. It's just a black hole of suck.

So, I move the power steering pump off to the side for some room. I then get out my pulley and put it together and get ready to put it on. Well, somehow the tensioner screw was all messed up, so I ended up pulling the bracket off the block.

I torque the tensioner pully on their, get a new tensioner screw/pulley bolt on and try to stick it back on the block. Wrong!

Notice the bolt? How it wont go into it's home because the pulley gets in the way? Yeah, that sucked. So I had to pull the pully back off, managing to lose a bushing somehow (my carport ate it I guess).

I get it put back on and then spend 15 mins tightening the tentioner bolt to properly tension the AC belt. You can only get like 1/4 turn on the bolt with a wrench. If I had the right tools (a long 1/4" extension) I would have been good to go.

But whatever. It's on and all is well! yay!

Next up, the hell that is underneath the dash. Oh how I hate working under the dash of a car. But thats where the evaporator/orifice tube is at soooo... Gotta pull it out (it's in the black box).

Pretty straightforward really.. Remove the glove box, pull a few 10mm bolts, pull the drain out of the box. My problem was actually removing the thing. it was like their were more bolts holding it in. I could wiggle it, but it would'nt come out.

I did a search online, even made a thread on it... Then figured it out.

The AC lines had to be removed, or unbolted. (1) 12mm and (1) 10mm bolt. Box came right on out after that, no problem.

Ta daa!!!

So I opened it up to see whats inside.. Eww.

That is what I'm going to replace. It along with the drier have shipped and I should get em this week.

My plan was to flush the AC and install them/charge the AC system this weekend but I may be going to Tennessee sooooo... We'll see. If I do, then the following weekend I'll get it fixed.

So, things are moving right along! Updates later!

You'll know when you get tracked down and get a barrel to your head like my friend. This is a lolz and a =S at the same time.
