This morning on my way to work, thinking abotu gas mileage, I remembered something I had thought about a while back.

And inherent problem with measuring fuel mileage is in order for it to be accurate, you have to have your tank filled completely both times you test it. Obviously if one tank is more or less filled than the other, your results will be skewed.

How do you get around this?

You build a tank that holds exactly a gallon of fuel and drive off that gallon until you run out. This would be accomplished by removing the fuel relay (OEM pump will not turn on) and running an external pump from the 1 gallon tank to the fuel rail.

I actually think I might try this. I've wanted to do it before but the problem is the fuel pump. I'd have to get another one, which I don't have the money to do and I don't need another pump anyway.

BUT, I remembered this morning that I have my OEM pump frommy Integra that I pulled when I replaced it with a Walbro 255 pump.

SO, I'm gonna look into doing that one day. I actually may go all out and video document everything and stick it on you tube so people can call me a *** and tell me I photoshopped everything

We'll see.

Thoughts?

I'm almost positive I have riden in this car and know the 2nd original owner of the car before the woman who has it now. I live in florida as well. Are there any drum and bass flyers or anything laying around the car from circa 99-01? I dated a girl named Jessica Pena and I bet you that's her old car. She is the type of girl that would have had "****ing *****" keyed onto her hood without a doubt.

Nope, none.

Now, the girl that I got it from, I don't see how she could be a *****, she was the nicest, sweetest thing ever.

But, I found out that she got the car from her sister, which I don't know anything about her. So, I suppose really, either way it's possible you have. I don't know any clues or anything specific to the car that might have been there in 99-01.

Unless you know the vin

Yea she had a sister. They both used to be out of control and calmed down alot and moved on with their lives. Find out if the girl you got the car from has an older sister named Jessica.

its a fun beater, but how are you gonna fix the weather stripping? its like 300 new and almost all older del sols get leaks ever once in a while from rain (not like flooding, but like wet have a seat)

I'll eventually buy new or get some off another Del Sol. I'm not super worried about it at the moment, since the fact that it leaks fits in with the rest of the car... Since it looks like crap anyway

I will say though, I'll have a nice lil update on Jellybean later this month. Some money will be coming in and I'll be able to buy some stuff Kinda lookin forward to it!

And since some flow is comin in, I'll be able to fix that civic I bought a while ago and sell it. Once that is sold, then I can justify working on Jellybean more.

-----------------

Unfortunately for my gas mileage experiment, I can't do it until my Integra is up and running. I told my wife my plans and she vehemently rejected the idea until I had another car. She doesn't want me messing with my daily driver and not have a spare She's so reasonable and stuff!

So, that'll come soon enough. In the meantime, I'll just test my mileage on full tanks. This tanks results will be skewed, as I drove on the interstate this weekend and I wanted to test the mileage doin 55 MPH, not 75+. Kinda sucks but oh well.

Updates will come as I get stuff done

380.1 miles
10.2 Gallons
= 37.2 MPG

Thats with driving 65+ mph for between 120-130 miles. Otherwise I'm doin 55 MPH wherever I go.

I think, actually, that Imay have got more gas in this fill up than in the other. I pay close attention to my gas needle and the odometer and it seems like this tank is moving slower.

Exactly why I want to do my 1 gallon tank thing! It will eliminate ALL the variable (or most of em anyway.

But, I have backed up 37 mpg twice now So I suppose it's safe to say thats what I get, daily driving a 233,000 mile Del Sol Si.

I just love Honda's <8

Whew! What a tiring day. Put new wheels on my wifes XB..
Took those wheels (2002 Civic EX, 195/60/15's) and stuck em on Jellybean! So she has some new shoes.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be picking up another tire which will complete my set of 205/50/15's, which will then go on Jelly instead of the 60 series. They look good though, I think you guys will approve!

**Edit** My battery died in my camera so I only snapped one pic. I"ll update with better ones when I get to work on Monday!

Enj0y!

I'm diggin my new shoes.. Err, old shoes, as I've had em awhile but they've been on my wifes car.

My bro thinks it looks great with the 60 series.. I'm still leanin towards puttin 50's on it. For some reason, to me, these wheels make my Sol look like a Miata. There's one in town that has spoked wheels like this and.. I dunno, just looks like a Miata to me. I don't have anything against that.

It's a beautiful day so I should be able to snap some good pics in an hour or so!

I like the wheels... and I'm with you, I really like my 205/50/15s on my GSR fat fives, it's a good size.
