Sub Install Help
I just bought a new 2012 Civic EX with Navigation system installed in it. I have been looking for a simple how to guide on installing an Infinity Basslink 200-Watt, Dual 10" Powered Subwoofer System ( This is an all in one powered Sub). Any help would be amazing.
I have previously installed this sub in my old 2005 Civic Hybrid but that was with an after market HU im not sure if this new Nav HU hooks up.

Get a LOC (Line Output Converter) rated for about 50watts and tap into the stock subwoofer or rear speakers (not sure if your OEM system has a factory sub). Run some decent coaxial's to the Basslink. Don't use the speaker lie input on the Basslink. Those are usually noisy.
just a heads up, if you bought your new car from a dealership (which i would assume you did) you'll void your electronic warranty if you add any aftermarket system, so basically if your navagation doesnt work for some reason, they wont honor the warranty because you have an aftermarket sub...i bought a brand new Acura in 2010 tech package and was gonna put my system in there but after reading my warranty from start to finish, it would actually void the electronics if i got it installed...im not saying you can't do it, but if for some reason one of your electronics doesnt work, your warranty doesnt cover it(if you put in an aftermarket system)
you can however, if anything does go wrong with your navigation, speakers, HA, etc, make it stock again before you bring it in, but they may notice if you did something to it, im personally waiting till my 4 year warranty is up till i start upgrading my sound system, but my acura has ESL, which is supposedly better than bose, so im content with it till then
Read your warranty though, since its a honda i would assume its the same as my acura warranty, you'd be surprised what they hide in the fine print

Why did my dealer tell me that if I install aftermarket equipment, my warranty would be void?
Reason 1: The person at the dealership does not understand that there is a law in effect specifically prohibiting such a statement.
Its total bull that your warranty is voided by installing equipment. Its actually under the magnum moss warranty act.
As far as the installation goes you will want to install a line out convertor to the front speakers. I have had feedback when hooking up to the rear speakers. You might actually have to use an i360, or cleansweep instead of the line out converter. I have heard some cars reduce the bass when you turn up the volume.

"Obviously if there is a failure and the manufacturer can prove that the failure was caused by the aftermarket part, warranty coverage on that failure may be denied."
and they always will say it was your stuff unless however the delarship itself installs it. then they will always say whoever installed it messed something up.
overall installing aftermarket stuff while underwarrenty is at your own risk. not saying you guys are wrong but most of the time they will win cause you cant prove you didnt cause it. you know what im sayin?? not tryin to start an argument.

i dont think any of you truly understand the Magnuson-Moss warranty act...as a general rule, don't believe everything .com sites tell you, here is the link of the act and it states nothing of what you guys are saying that the act does. Please read it, as im pretty sure none of you have ever read all the fine print of warranties and what they can hide.
"The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is the federal law that governs consumer product warranties. Passed by Congress in 1975, the Act requires manufacturers and sellers of consumer products to provide consumers with detailed information about warranty coverage. In addition, it affects both the rights of consumers and the obligations of warrantors under written warranties."
Like i said read your warranty, i know most of the people never read the fine print, and i live in the USA, im not trying to bash you guys either, i never heard of that act, but when i researched it, i couldnt find anything about it protecting the consumer of putting in aftermarket products

oooorrr... unplug the mic in the maplight assembly above your rearview mirror. takes a minute to do, and solves the problem forever. and when you go to sell it, you can always plug it right back in.
