The highly anticipated Honda e has picked up the best tech award at the 2020 DrivingElectric Awards.

The team at DrivingElectric, electric car buying and owning experts, commended the Honda e for bringing a new level of infotainment tech to any class of car, let alone the small car class, and for the Side Camera Mirror System, which they said was remarkable to have as standard.

Arriving in European and Japanese dealerships early next summer, the Honda e will start from $34,424 for the 100kW version, rising to $37,713 for the “Advance” grade that includes further specification and a motor output increased to 113kW. The car will also be available to lease from around $394 per month for the base model.

Vicky Parrott, Associate editor at DrivingElectric, commented, “With full-width screens facing the driver and front-seat passenger and cameras in place of door mirrors, the Honda e feels more spacecraft than city car inside. While it may seem overwhelming at first, a logical layout and responsive controls mean it all works well in practice, as well as being one of many eye-catching talking points on this highly distinctive car.”

Phil Webb, head of car at Honda UK, added, “To wrap up 2019 with an award win is a great achievement for the Honda e and being recognized by the leading publication when it comes to EVs is a fantastic badge of honor. The Honda e is a very important model for us in our powertrain journey towards electrification, so we look forward to seeing this success continue when the car arrives next summer.”

There’s currently no word on U.S. availability.
