World’s First 2017 Civic Type R Auctioned for Charity
Here it is! The world’s very first 2017 Civic Type R is up for grabs.
On Wednesday, June 7, Honda announced that the very first 2017 Civic Type R (VIN 01) will be auctioned online on Bring A Trailer. The proceeds from the sale will then go to Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, helping children battling cancer. Shortly after the auction opened up, the price of the CTR sat at $35,000, very close to the recently reported $34,775 sticker price spotted last week.
“The Civic Type R has long been forbidden fruit for enthusiasts in the U.S., so we thought it would be fun to offer one lucky customer a shot at owning the first of its kind in America while benefitting the leading nonprofit solely dedicated to finding a cure for childhood brain tumors, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation,”
– Jeff Conrad, Senior Vice President, Automobile Division, American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
A color that makes you look back (twice), but it’s not Championship White.
The world’s very first 2017 Civic Type R (R-00001) surprisingly is sporting the gorgeous Aegean Blue Metallic paint color. Many Honda enthusiasts including myself would think that VIN 01 would come in Championship White, but you can’t deny how good the FK8 looks in this Aegean Blue. With aggressive styling, adaptive suspension, and a potent 306 horsepower 2.0L turbocharged engine, the CTR has already captured the hearts of Honda heads all over even before a single one has been sold.
UPDATE: At the time of writing this story (Tuesday, June 13), the current bid sits at a staggering $200,000 with 22 bids. With 5 days left, could we see the price creep up to $300,000? This is great news for the charity!
