Default Motul Gear 300

Drained Honda MTF and filled with Motul Gear 300 this morning.... and from the initial drive, its much, much better. Smoother shifting, almost all of the notchy shifts have gone away. Even with fresh Honda MTF, the trans never shifted this nice. It should hold up better on track as well...

And some junk on my sp00m drain plug

I order fluids from HMS Motorsport... $12.50/liter (1 liter ~ 1 qt).

http://www.hmsmotorsport.com/s...#1519

I also ordered some of this stuff - http://www.hmsmotorsport.com/s...#1523

Same price as the BG 44K I was using before... but i'm only through half a tank with it in so far.

The car idles and runs smoother in every car i've used them in. BG is expensive (Honda dealer near me sells it, $17/can) but its worth it, IMO.

I remember you were thinking of trying the Redline MT-90. Any particular reason you chose the Motul instead?

I've heard good things about Chevron Techron also. It's a synthetic fuel system cleaner.. About $10 for a 12 oz bottle.

What is the weight of honda MTF? Is this motul 75w-90 gear oil thicker than MTF?

75w80. Its nothing more than 10w30 motor oil with a few additives.

I've been happy with Motul brake fluid, and they claim 0% shear with the Gear 300. So far so good... Had a friend drive the car this evening who's driven it before and also says it shifts much smoother.

Does it contain any friction modifiers, as the Redline MT-90 does? The m00gen LSD requires it.

I dont believe so - http://www.motorspot.com/motul.html , although they make other gearbox fluids as well.

But the (US) owner's manual only recommends Honda MTF, therefore everything else must be *****...

150 track miles @ summit point today.

Trans was smooth all day long, was very nice not to have the notch & grind MTF in there. I was even shifting faster than I normally do, trans didnt seem to care one bit.

This stuff gets a big

MOTUL is the best **** out there. I was just talking to my friend the other day he was talking with the guys @ motul and they were running it in 2 of the race cars can't remember which class but they blew an oil pan with 2 laps left and still finished the race.

Do you guys have motul gear ff-lsd competition/sports in the states?

http://www.motul.com.au/produc....html

Just wondering why you chose gear 300 over this one, gear 300 apparently isnt compatible with cars which have an LSD.

Torsen LSDs do not require friction modifiers in the fluid.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Mike D &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i saw in the link it mentioned frequent fluid changes recommended. How often is frequent?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Which link? I'm going start doing the trans fluid with the oil, every other track weekend + whatever street miles it gets.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">and also, have you tried the syncromesh before?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Nope, and I wouldnt use it. Its too thin.
