It will "crack" louder if you raise your engagement up I noticed. I prefer to call it "banging" VTEC. You might want to get an AEM CAI too...that and an N1 canister type exhaust system. When I hit VTEC in my teg, people do that "scared shitless" bit if I am next to them.

are you serious? this can't be real. who cares how loud it is. this is getting down right silly. you don't happen to have a mismatched body kit and an aluminum wing do you?

if u raise engagement you'll just loose power then suddenly make up for the loss at the cross over

Actually, it all depends on the motor and mods done to it. With a certain set of cams, a higher VTEC engagement may be more beneficial for those particular cams. I have seen dyno's where people gain a bit by raising their engagement. Plus I had a friend that raised his VTEC to 6k on his non-cammed B16A and by seat of the pants feel it felt faster...looked like it too since he walked my at the time stock DA very quickly compared to his no less than 3 minute earlier engagement point of 5.5k rpms.

We all "learn" at some point huh?!
Tuning a car for the VTEC sound isn't the best approach to more horsepower.
