150hp+ from 1493cc's
Here are a few pics of my recent adventure into the world of 1493cc's.
.020" over
~13:1
Custom cam
Crower Rods
Isky titanium retainers/springs
1mm oversized stainless valves
Port work
954rr ITBs/custom fabricated manifold
Holley 4-1 header
Ghettodyne&Greddy Emanage engine management
On the Dyno it put about 150 to the wheels
Still A LOT of tuning left to do, but hopefully we can get it closer to 170 with trumpet size/shape and intake runner length tuning and a custom header...
If anyone has other experiences with a similair setup, please use this thread for an open discussion to offer ideas

looks really nice, good luck with your set up but just to think you couldve had the same power if not more with a basically stock B series without going thru all that trouble...

oh, just **** off
B16: 1800-2300 USD plus shipping, plus installation, etc
B18: 2900-4500 USD plus shipping, install, etc...
not to mention, he's doing this with less displacement
so tell me how the dollar:HP ratio works out in favor of a b-series motor...

wow you people in FL get boned in the *** for motors b16: 1800-2300??? you serious? oh and around here we install our own motors... don't talk to me about doing things with less displacement, i ran 12s all motor with a b16 when most can't even do it with b18's
but like i said for a nice set up looks good

Re: 150hp+ from 1493cc's (WAFFLES)
The car was built soley for competition in SCCA. The rules state the car has to use an engine originally offered in a CRX during the 4 years it was produced. I chose the 1.5 because minimum weights are based on displacement (1.05lbs per cc). The car was able to weigh in lighter than it could with a 1.6. B series is not an option.

ahhh makes sense now... well ive said it before and i'll say it again, very nice set up, looks good oh and i think people automatically say to go B series about a D series post is because most people in here are more Drag orientated... well at least i am... good luck in the SCCA

I would really love to have a setup like this!
what does .20" over mean??
is there any attribute to this that is the real power adder? or just kind of everything together?
Can we see the dyno chart?
what about how much torque did you put down?
if you could/did switch over to 1.6, do you think you could make alot more power easier?
I've got a 1.5, say I wanted to up it to 1.6? how would I go about doing that?
I heard somewhere that if I just swapped in the crank from a 1.6 that would do it..
have a feeling theres more to it than that.
but cool setup man!

.020 over is how much the cylinders/pistons have been overbored = more displacement

because its the cool thing to do and if you're the first person to badmouth the d-series, you're extra cool.
Totally badass setup though man. What trans are you using? Hopefully the si one with a nice final drive or something. Too bad you're not in the philly region, I'd love to see the car in action. Looks badass, from the link in your sig.

Re: 150hp+ from 1493cc's (666)
Is it allowable in the rule book to run a sleeved, large bore (79-80mm or so)...and run a destroker crank with long rods? Youd still be able to maintain your displacement but the bigger bore would deshroud the valves and breath better.

because the b series is a better motor in every aspect
and persoinally i think that if you plan to swap a motor or build a motor a d series is a waist of time
this person has a reson for useing the d series though because of the track rules

Hey, back on topic.
so its bored out another .020"
so can you use OEM pistons with a bored out cylinder like that? or do you have to use special after market overbore pistons, or something of that sort?
thanks!
