Default Mugen N1 ECU OR JDM P73 ecu & VAFC ??

I have a 00 ITR with:
-stock R internals, but thinkning about Skunk2 cams and valvetrain.
- JDM P73 ecu
-I/H/E
-cam gears
-testpipe
-FPR
-no PS and AC
-shaved crankpulley
-Toda flywheel

-would I be better off getting a Mugen N1 ECU ($700) OR JDM P73 ecu & VAFC ($600)??

thanks for all the input.

Have you run the car at the dragstrip yet?

I would say JDM P73 and VAFC over a set ecu......each motor is different and the some dyno time with the VAFC should prove to be good.

I think Toda B's (road course) or JUN 3's (drag) over Skunk stuff but JMO

I have an Si ecu with a VAFC right now and it gets the job done for right now....wiring up the P73 pretty soon then hitting the dyno up to tune it (Spring time)

Mugen n-1 $700? i dont think so.... i think its more like 1,100 or 1,400.

and the Mugen works great. Stock ecu + vafc doesnt mess with timing.

Mugen changes up timing and fuel. also u dont have to dyno, cuz not everybody has access to a dyno.

Down side with Mugen N-1, i never found the rev limit? or it was ridiculously high.

swapping stock typeR computer with Mugen was a NIGHT and DAY difference. VTEC engagement was louder and the sound of the car was more fierce with the Mugen. Also pulled way harder.. only thing is that with the A/C on the car would die at idle. (i also had 4-1 mugen header)

Running WITH a catalytic converter my car could not pass smog emissions with the MUGEN - that gives you an idea of how it radically alters the car performance

Mugen also defeats your o2 sensor so you dont get a check engine light with your test pipe.

MUGEN is track proven to work - Comptech Type R integras use them in the Speed channel touring car series.

so.. its up to u

9100 RPM's
only thing is that with the A/C on the car would die at idle.
King Motorsports has an easy fix for this problem

If you can get the Mugen ecu for $700 then it is worth it. Otherwise a chipped OBDI ecu plus wiring harness will cost about the same and some of the chipped ECU's are questionable. Unless you get it from Kenji!!!!

I picked up the Mugen N1 Ecu for about $350 so it was a steal that I couldn't pass up. I have also heard that the real Mugen ecu uses a faster processor than the OBDI ecus.

yup he sure does.

but i was too scared to find the Fuel Cutoff, becuase ive revved it like right to 9400-9500 (according to the stock tachometer) with no fuel cut off. i think the stock tach has a +300-400rpm calibration, so i was only doin like 9000rpm-9100rpm, but still, thats scary!! i never hit the rev limit before

did kingmotorsports just figure out the a/c fix? cuz like 3 years ago when i had my car i never heard of the a/c fix. oh well.

On a stock ITR valvetrain? Is this even safe......valve float?

Not sure when they came up with the fix. I asked them about it when I was out there about ~2 months ago because I'm considering putting the
A/C back in my car and they gave me a sheet that shows the fix.

It is highly recommended that reinforced valve springs be fitted if this E.C.U. is used.

Stock is fine. Its not like Mugen sells anything better than stock anyway.
