you'll have to relocate the battery, but it should fit.

I believe it's not possible since the Vortech supercharger runs off of the B16A power steering pump/pulley. Someone correct me on this.

I actually talked to Vortech reps about this and yeah it's a no go.
Meant for the A2, not A1

So why would this not work with the first gen power steering pulley?

Can somebody actually hook me up with a contact at Vortech? I'm close to purchasing a used kit... Or course, it would do me no good if it won't fit my motor...

If u look at the belt track (off pulley) between gen1 and gen2, it's diff. Ones a serpentine track, the other is a v-groove

Swap the pulley or maybe put on a A2 power pump and pulley assembly?

Vortech supercharger: The parasitic drag of a supercharger with the lag of a big *** turbo. If you want a supercarger, get a JR unit, but I'd suggest a turbo. But hey, it ain't my car...

A couple weeks ago there was a guy in a GSR that was all stock except JRSC. He kept talking **** about how he could beat my friend with a 99 Si that has a VSC with the aftercooler, headers, exhaust, and plugs and wires and the AEM FMU. Well they got to the track and finally fot lined up with eachother. Well when the light turned green the GSR jumped ahead by about half a car and at the end of the 1/8th it was BEHIND by over a car length. The guy felt so dumb that he just left...i think one of the reasons is that the person driving the Si was a GIRL!!!! Anyway, i would get the vortech over the JRSC ANYDAY of the week. By the way, i drove the car and it has little to no lag. That car is crazy fast and shes beaten 3 R's and hung with a modded Cobra....well until 115 the he was out...lol.

I've seen a couple of dynos for the Vsc, isn't most of the power only made in the upper rpms?

Exactly. I guess nobody figured this out. A properly designed turbo boosting less than the VSC will beat it. A JR unit boosting the same will kill it (your friend can't drive and needs to get bolt ons; it wasn't a fair race and FWIW, that's a pig headed sexist comment about being a girl. My mom would ******* own you with her Accord wagon at an autocross).

since you're so biased to turbos, maybe you should stop and ask if the car is a daily driver or a 1/4 mile monster... i've always heard that SCs are better for a daily driver. i guess it depends on your cup of tea.

I'm only biased towards turbos for 4 bangers. I think superchargers are great when stuck between two banks of cylinders and under a couple Holly double- pumpers.

My daily driver turbo setup gives me full boost (7 PSI) at 2200 RPM, and rips hard to redline. If I punch it anywhere above 3000 RPM, I get virtually instant boost. Yeah, there's lag, but if I'm driving below 2200 RPM, I'm not too concerned about power. Are you? Even the Greddy kit gives full boost at 3400 RPM. This is still fine. When was the last time a race was won below 3400 RPM? Do you shift below 3400 RPM when racing?

If you have to go blower, go JR because at least you don't have tremendous lag and peaky power delivery. We're talking daily drivers here, so peak HP is irrelavent. What matters is tractability and powerband width. With the Vortech unit, I just don't see either of those being better than the JR unit. Something you guys loose sight of in your quest for bigger *****, is that you *CAN* go too big. Too much power, or a 200 RPM powerband waaaaaaaay up at 8200 RPM isn't driveable. You're either spinning wheels all the time (which will wear tires out, will get old, and will get you a ticket if you happen to do it in front of a cop), or waiting and waiting and waiting and wai...WHOOAAAAAAA! and then the car falls on it's face and you have to shift and wait again.

I'll admit, the Vortech puts out some great numbers. Nearly 200 HP per liter! But it's just no usable. It's like a 900 HP Supra- it becomes a dyno queen, and IMPO, dyno queens are one step away from being a show car. I guess I'm alone in my views here, but I have this really crazy notion that cars are designed to be driven...

*edit- here's a dyno plot of the Vortech supercharger...

And here's one of the JR supercharger...

Notice that the JR torque curve is alot flatter. There is more area under it than with the Vortech jobbie. Which do you think will be easier to drive as a daily driver?

on the JRSC. The vortech unit just isnt a good match for the B series engine. The only thing I can think of that appealed to me about the Vortech unit, is the fact that it came with a blow-off valve. Lets not forget about the price either. For the price of the Vortec, you could get a JRSC plus the 12 pound pulley, and some other goodies. I say JRSC all the way, Ive driven both, I have made my choice for the daily driver.

I don't think you can fit a JRSC on a hybrid CRX without some serious banging/cutting, can you?
