DIY resistor pack
Yes I did do a search on this and came up with nothing. A resistor pack is so simple that I cant bring myself to spend $30 on one. I was wondering if anyone has made one on their own? I was planning on getting a little project box and encapsuling the resistors in epoxy or something like that. I just to know what impedace resistors to use, and maybe a simple diagram of how it all hooks up. Any help would be very appreciated.

Re: DIY resistor pack (genop)
Here's a post by liam821 awhile back when I had the same questions as you.
"You need to wire a 10watt 10ohm resistor inline with each injector. There is two wires going to each injector, one is a yellow/black (ground), and the other is a lead (blue, red, yellow, and brown i believe). What i did was put the resistor inline with each of the yellow/black wire (the wire which is the same color going to each injector). So all ya do is cut the ground wire, the yellow/black one, put the resisitor inline, little electrical tape, and ur good to go.
To use a honda resistor box is every similar. The resistor box has 5 wires coming out of it. One is a ground lead, and the others goto the injectors. To wire it up...do the following.
1. cut all the yellow/black wires off each injector and route them into the injector box. (doesnt matter what order)
2. Wire the lead on the resistor box into ONE of the yellow/black wires which used to goto your injectors. (doesnt matter which one)
You dont have to touch the lead injector wires (the red, blue, yellow, and brown wires).
Here is a picture which i just made...sorry im not an artist. I didnt draw the lead POWER side of the injector as you dont need to touch it (ie no cut)."
Here's a picture he posted of...
Hope that helps.

Re: DIY resistor pack (genop)
the 10ohm 10 watt resistors work great i just did them
i went to radio shack and the guy said they didn't exist so i had to slap him lol then i went to a different radio shack and got them
1.67 for a pack of 2

Re: DIY resistor pack (turboex)
turbo ex that's exactly how mine look i think i'm just gonna put some wire loom over them or something in some pretty colors to match my car lol

Re: DIY resistor pack (turboex)
Yep, that's all it takes.
If you have trouble finding the 10ohm/10watt resistors, you can usually find the large 8 ohm noninductive resistors since a lot of people use those for audio projects. They work just fine, I ran them for months. I ran with 6 ohm resistors for awhile. No worries about the exact value. One day on the freeway one of the resistor leads broke and left me running on 3 cylinders so I pulled a scrap tweeter out of my trunk (8 ohm voice coil) and wired that in series with the injector for long enough to get me home.

awesome......can someone do al ittle write up on what/how to wire in the resistors?????
i have a resistor pack but its old and i dunno if i trust it(its 6 ohms too)

Re: DIY resistor pack (dustin)
I bought the resistors from Radioshack, then thought; "What the ****? This is going to look like *** (not my biggest concern) and I'm gonna have some relatively heavy/fragile/hot pieces hangin around my engine" SO, I went to the junkyard and got one for $10. I ground it down a bit and polished it up, cause a little BLING never hurt anyone. Much better; however, I don't think I would've paid what they go for on ebay.

Re: DIY resistor pack (accordking)
Come on guys USE THE OEM BOX!! Stop being cheap and your car will thank you for it.
B. I dont know about most of you all, but you can go to damn near any junkyard and get a resistor box for little to nothing.

A. The OEM box is basically just resistors in a box with a heatsink on it. There is no reason as to whats wrong with making your own.

Re: DIY resistor pack (dustin)
This is why you get the 10 watt resistors... they're rated at 10 watts because that's the amount of heat they can dissipate on their own. Meaning you can flow 1 amp thru them continously without fear of damaging the resistors. On a fuel injector, they're handling approximately 1 amp, but the duty cycle is less than 100% so heat management shouldn't be much of an issue.

Re: DIY resistor pack (JT)
I made mine last night from stuff I bought from radio shack. I got 10ohm 10 watt resistors and a little project box. Drilled holes in the project box to run the wire through, then encapsuled it in epoxy which is rated for 1500 degrees. Also, the resistors are 10 watt so I'm not really worried about the resistors getting to hot. I will try to get some pics of it for everyone to see

Re: DIY resistor pack (integra-modder)
I just wired mine resistor box up lastweek (thanks to Sonny for diagrams). Mine looks nice and clean. I'm trying to get pictures of the car and everything as we speek. I mounted mine where my powersteering and cruise control was. If it was me I'd just stick with the box much cleaner look(that's why I did it). Later Allen

Re: DIY resistor pack (integra-modder)
does anyone know what car this is SPECIFICALLY from?
also, what honda/acura cars had resistor boxes?
You can find resistor boxes on 95 and earlier Preludes and 91 and earlier Civic/CRX/Integras.
