I'm not entirely sure I'd classify the first two wagons posted as Bosozoku

Man I hope boso-sha/shakotan doesn't become the latest "import" trend.

Here's some I took a long time ago.

Bosozoku are just Japanese Motorcycle gangs. Bosozoku aren't the only people who drive (drove) cars like that. If you look at these you can see where VIP style comes from.

Even if the style is ugly as hell, I like to see guys having fun with this car hobby instead of being so serious. I dont know if they mean to make the cars funny, but they definetly put a smile on my face. I respect the work put into it as well.

I believe a lot of the influence of these cars dates back to 70's-80's japanese race cars which had some insane "aero" work done to them.

Good post. Plus it's not like they are doing this stuff to Ferraris.

Youre right Bosozoku/Yanki/Chibaragi style drew heavily from the Formula Silhouette cars of the 80's.

Most of the modern Japanese motorsport/tuning scene is rooted in this stuff.
