Default almost 4 wheels in the air...

thanks for the compliments everyone. some of you are wondering specs of project remix. check it out at http://www.g-speed.com/remix

SOHC power babee!!

yes old school Weds Sports TC-05! CP-F's too.

Well I should give a little back ground on this sequence. Sideline Sports was at the event shooting photos. They are real pros, and does contract work for BMW F1 in USA for example. I looked over their photos and they are excellent. At $80 a CD they are not cheap, as the usual rate is about half of that. If you buy the CD, they can also take special requests. Michael at Sideline was showing he had an Audi 2 wheels off in the air @ T5. I was like, nice pix, and for 80 bucks I want me a nice little 2 wheels in the air photo too.

So I went out for a session practicing getting 2 wheels in the air @ T5 top of the hill aka The Cyclone. Keep in mind T5 is a complete blind corner to start with. But where you end up on the other side is dictated by the line you took from your entry/turn in to apex. Having gone over this hill hundreds of times I was very familiar with what comes on the other side. Normally I would not go on on the inside berm at all because all it does is upset the car and it doesn't help you go over/around the turn faster at all. I was getting the hang of it, and thought hey it wasn't too bad. It was 1-1.5 feet in the air maybe... But Michael wasn't shooting T5 at all in that session. So I made another arrangement for him to shoot it. It was getting dark already, and I cruised out to try. I made a small ~1 foot hop, and then the next lap I was like I'm going to go a little higher on the berm. Whoa, more height than I expected, and when the car landed the rear end step out quite a bit too. Although it wasn't quite heart pounding, I was definitely feeling like, damn, lets NOT do that again. I hope Michael captured the sequence... I pit in. And everyone was nuts LOL. They were like dude you almost flipped, you were 4 wheels in the air. I was like, NO WAY, I don't think it was 4 wheels in the air, it felt like two only. Michael show me on the little view finder and it look pretty gnarly. Inside the car it didn't feel as crazy as the way it looked from outside of the car. All I felt was the left side way up, it didn't feel like the car was going to tip over at all because it was less than 45 degrees. If anything, it was the oversteer once remix was on the ground that caught me off guard abit. Spinning out would've been embrassing. After we were all packing up, the corner workers came in at the end and had a fun chat about it. Those who frequent Thunderhill should know "Turbo", he happens to be working T5 that day. Turbo said he never saw any car going up so high and still stay on the track and he doesn't know how I did it. Well, I know exactly how I did it because I set it up for Michael to capture it. That much air and angle wasn't planned, but I'm sure glad he has time lapsed sequence shot instead of just 1 or 2 shots. Now I have something cool to show my grand kids... and I got my 80 bucks worth that's for sure!

PS, kids DO NOT TRY THIS @ HOME. :-)

not only is that a great job on the photographer's part capturing that whole sequence, but your driving skills are also insane!
