obd0 to obd1 conversion help
ok guys i have been searching for a while now on what exactly i need to do a obd1 conversion, but i am still a little confused about which parts i need.
i have a 91 civic si (its black , lol) i have a d16y7 out of a 2000 civic in it currently, but i am going to be putting a ported/polished y8 head from a 98 civic, with a comp cams stage 1 y8 cam.
i am aware i need to get at ecu, distributor, o2 sensor, and unsure whether to get different injectors or go with the resistor box.
my question is what distributor /ecu should i get, money is not a problem, i just want the right stuff, i have the distributor off the y7 but i think its obd2 ?
i think that about covers it, thanks!!!

Re: obd0 to obd1 conversion help (signorelli21)
Your wiring harness is the first thing that comes to mind. The OBD-0 to OBD-1 Harness with extended wires should be used, and you'll need to make sure that VTEC, VTP, Extra o2 sensor wires, etc, are integrated into your OBD-0 engine harness. You might need an OBD-1 Harness from which to use connectors (again for VTEC Solenoid and VTP). Also, you'll need an OBD-1 Dizzy - Part #TD-42U (originally for a D16Z6). You can just de-pin the OBD-0 Connectors out of your engine harness and use the OBD-1 Connectors for your Distributor. Just make sure you have the wiring diagram available and have the pins put in the correct place. ECU-wise: Go for a chipped P28 or equivalent and get a custom dyno-tuned program for it. Some random "CHIP" just won't do the trick. You need a custom dyno-tuned chip for it. You'll need a 4-wire o2 sensor as well. Get rid of the resistor box by de-pinning the wires coming off your injectors and pinning them into a shorting connecting block (correct way to do it rather than solder them all together in a bundle). Use the Saturated 240cc injectors that come with your Y8. The fuel rail and intake manifold is a 2-bolt, unlike the 3-bolt Z6, so make sure you have a Y8 fuel rail. Sensors will need to be converted to grey-plug as well - such as MAP, TPS, ECT, IAT, etc...
It seems like it would almost be wiser to use an OBD-1 Engine harness, complete with ECU plugs...but i'm not sure how well that is going to work by the time you get to plugging things in at your firewall on the driver's side. (Do OBD-0 firewall plugs allow integration with OBD-1 harnesses? I'm sure I'll know more once I start the conversion on my CRX (after I get the car...lol). Hope that helps.
