90 DA LS/Vtec 267whp on only 6psi - Dyno sheet inside
here's the setup
Uberdata tuned
DSM 450s
STS remote mounted prototype turbo
t3/t4
non-intercooled
LS/Vtec - stock internals
6psi
I made 267hp at 6psi as you will see in the graph.
At a road race course in Wendover UT/NV I went 4th overall, behind an Evo, an STI, and a 600whp Type R. In the rest of the fray were a Lotus Elise, 2 more STI's, and a 450hp EVO.
Here's a pic of the turbo. BTW, my EGTs are never over 800, and on the road/autox course my car never even thought of getting hot, when the evo's and sti's were all warming fast.

Nice. I remember reading about the STS turbo set up a little while back. Seemed a bit odd, but
its good to see it actually applied. What made you go with the Sts kit? And out of curiosity do you lose boost pressure, since the compressed air has a long way to travel back to the engine?

Sts turbo kit
Here's a pic of my car on the dyno, dirty, and still with stock wheels. I now have a set of 2000 SI wheels (with the drag radials), and a set of konig nexts with azenis.
I went with the STS kit because it has some great advantages.
1. The oil gets cooled on its way back to the turbo, and again on the way back to the motor (it uses pump system)
2. The air gets cooler as well.
3. No glowing red hot turbo under your hood (one reason my car didn't get hot at the road course/autox, btw i ran more laps than anyone there - 55!)
4. Also the turbo doesn't ever really get that hot, you can touch the exhaust housing after about 10 minutes.
5. probably the coolest thing about the whole kit is the turbo spool sound out of the exhaust
You don't lose any boost from having it in the back (it all depends where your wastegate is plumbed from - mine comes off the plenum so it doesn't open until there is full boost there, not at the turbo), and you would think that the lag would be excessive, but its not any worse than an under hood car that i tuned last week with the same turbo.
There are some other things that are good about it, but thats all i can come up with at the moment.
I can hook up an intercooler, and i have. I just dont have the dyno from that yet. I also upped the boost a psi or two, so i should be well over 300whp, i should be going in the next week or so.

It's an LS/VTEC, not just an LS.

Re: (phenom3030)
Cost:
Well, i think that kit will retail for somwhere in the $2500-3000 range. Mine is the prototype, so i got a little bit better deal.

Re: (Spectrum24x)
That looks awesome, Totally a sleeper
The only drawback I can see is it looks like the turbo sits really low. It might just be the camera angle or something though?
I have a DA too, wanted to go turbo but the only thing thats keeping me from doing it is if a cop pops my hood and sees a turbo sitting there im fucked (I live in Southern Cali, home of the Honda **** cops). But this may be the answer to my problems . Definately subscribing to this thread

Re: (ThE bEe GuY)
The turbo does kind of look low in that picture, but it isn't even close to being lower than the lower control arm. It may have been sagging at that time too, because the people that did my exhaust did weld the hanger on well, so i had to go back and fix it.
I'll get some more pics up as soon as i can. Also we're heading to the dyno next week with the intercooler hooked up and an extra pound of boost.
