I'm pretty sure this has been covered if you search, but to save you the time and tell you they're the same thing pretty much. You can just buy an OEM head gasket and remove the middle layer for half the price.

I think he thought that the post was head gasket thickness, not compression raising ability.
I read it backwards too.
