Default Yokohama S. Drive?

Anyone have any experience with this tire yet? I was considering it for my eg. 195/50/15. I did search on here for this, and checked out the tire rack review. Wasn't sure about the noise, treadwear, ride quality of it from a real world source.
Thanks

In a side-by-side comparison test, it was a very close third behind the Kumho SPT and Fuzion ZRi. Given that it's a lot more expensive than those tires, that's not very impressive. I would get the SPT instead.

Wrong. The ratings on the sidewall are virtually meaningless and do not indicate how a tire compares with its competitors.

Thanks nsxtasy. I had considered the S. Drive based mostly off the slightly better ride and noise quality according to tire rack. I have the 711 now, which is a loud piece of junk that rides terrible. I was a bit shaken in my confidence of kumho tires because of it, and it makes me somewhat biased toward their other offerings.
thanks though

What size are you looking for? Depending on size, you can find them at the Tire Rack, Discount Tire Direct, Tires-Easy.com, etc.

Other tires similar in price and performance include the Avon Tech M500 and the Fuzion ZRi.

195/50-15 is the proper size for both your '90-91 Civics. And the SPT is in stock in that size at the Tire Rack, $58/tire, according to their website. It's also in stock in 205/50-15, but 195/50-15 is a better match for your cars, won't throw off the speedometer/odometer, won't make them accelerate slower, etc.

The spt is a good tire, same with the Avon Tech M500. If you can still find them, the Mastercraft Avenger ZHP is the same tire as the Avon ZZ3, and it's in the 55-60 dollar range since the Mastercraft version is discontinued.

The Avon Tech M500 is a good tire in the same category as the SPT. However, it's not available in the 195/50-15 size that this person needs.

Wanted to bring this back, maybe some people have some new reviews on the Yokohama S. Drive. Compared to the Kumho SPT, Yoko ES100 or Toyo T1s.

You can see a side-by-side comparison test between the S.drive and the SPT on the Tire Rack website here; their overall scores are almost identical. The SPT is significantly better in rain than the ES100; in dry they're very similar. The T1-S was discontinued a while ago.

I doubt it. Every van I know comes from the factory with all-season tires, not summer tires like the S.drive. For example, the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan comes with the Bridgestone Turanza EL400-02 all-season.

you're are talking about the 2007 grand caravans... correction: the 2008 Dodge Caravan/SXT comes with Yokohama AVID tires..

I just bought some today.....they seem to ride pretty nice, are very quiet, and smooth too. Of course I only have about 100 miles on them, I guess I will know more in a week or two, for sure they are much better than the stock Michelins that came on my FA.

That's like saying that slicks are better than winter tires. They are entirely different kinds of tires, designed to do well at different things. And the Neova AD07 isn't available in sizes for most of our cars, either.

Sounds like a good tire by the reviews I've read so far. They seem to measure up in Tirerack's tests as well. I think I'm gonna try some.

Actually, in the Tire Rack's test, the S.drive did about as well as the Kumho SPT and Fuzion ZRi, but the S.drive costs a whole lot more money for the same performance. So I wouldn't, but hey, it's your money...
