wheel weight of 15x6.5 slipstream : one with azenis and one with S-03
Well I happen to have two sets of 15x6.5 rota slipstreams, and was curious:
so i did an at-home weight comparrison test and as much as a home scale can be accurate...which sometimes isn't much ...here are the results with pics:
I weighed them multiple times, and also positioned them exactly the same way on the scale, and got the final results:
if anyone has feedback as to whether this is way off or somewhat accurate, this would be appreciated
15x6.5 rota slipstream with 205/50/15 Falken azenis tire
1 wheel = 36lbs
15x6.5 rota slipstream with 195/50/15 bridgestone potenza
S-03 tire
1 wheel = 33lbs

Interesting, so does the weight make up for the difference in width, handling wise?

I've only run the S-03's, and I love them.
But I picked up the azenis for a good price, and sold the S-03's
so I'm about to find out the difference in handling.
I think it's well known that the old azenis were fattys, but it was excusable due their low cost/good handling (until hot)/ stiff sidewalls.
I'll see if the trade-off from my S-03's to the wider azenis was a good one.

I always heard that the Falken Azenis were one of the heavier tires out there. Good work on the weighing.
I can excuse the road noise and stiff sidewall of the Azenis because they stick great and were every reasonably priced, but now that they are no longer available at that price I switched to SO3's and could not be happier.
Let us know what you find out.

yeah I think I'm going to miss my S03's
I should have the azenis/slips on soon, though I'm not going to use them as my daily drivers cause I've heard they waste away quickly.

I had them both at 35psi...I should've mentioned that.
also another thing to consider in the weight difference, that I didn't think of before, is the difference in tire wear.
The S03's have been used longer, and have less thread than the azenis which I'm sure contributes to them weighing so much less.

My Falken Azenis were not on my daily driver so they lasted awhile because of that, but when I started to use them on long trips or for drag racing they went pretty quickly. I am hoping my SO3's will last awhile.

yeah they will last longer than the azenis, they aren't as sticky when cool and dry as the azenis, but they tend to wear better especially when hot like after a long time driving, at least in my experience.
