need help here
I have 16x7 te 37 on my 92 eg8 now. The tire size is 205 45 16 at the moment. well i just found a bubble on one of the rear tires. I want to get some azenis but the closest size is 215 45 16. Will these work? what will it look like in comparison to the tires i have on now. heres a pic for reference.
thanks in advance

You have a choice. You can replace the single tire with an identical one, or you can replace all four with the Azenis - in which case I recommend getting the proper size for your car, which is 205/40-16, as OJ points out. (You really should not mix different tires on your car if they have drastically different performance characteristics, so don't just replace one or two tires with the Azenis - not a good idea.)

205/45/16 is proper tire size for an EG as well as 205/40/16, the difference in side wall is not a great enough percentage to alter speedometer reading.

WRONG.
Most '92-95 Civics came with 175/70-13 tires. Compared with that size, the outer diameter of 205/40-16 is within 1 percent (0.8 percent smaller), which is very close. The outer diameter of 205/45-16 is almost 3 percent larger (2.7 percent, to be exact), which is a significant difference. Furthermore, there are other disadvantages to using those oversized tires; they make the car accelerate slower, and they may rub. And there are NO benefits of a 205/45 compared with a 205/40. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Which is why 205/40-16 is the right size for a '92-95 Civic, and 205/45-16 is too big. (215/45-16 is even bigger, with a difference of 4.3 percent, a full inch.)

Re: need help here (nsxtasy)
Are you done lol Silly man... there are no benefits except a more comfortable ride because of increased sidewall. 205/40/16 are uncomfortable to ride on, every bump in the road is felt. By the discount tires suggest 205/45/16 just to let you know.

That depends. Are you done displaying your lack of knowledge about tires? Because you really don't know what you're talking about.

It is true that a shorter sidewall usually results in a degradation of ride comfort. However, if ride comfort is important to you, the best way to deal with it is NOT by getting tires that are too large (in this case, 205/45-16), but rather, by getting smaller wheels, so that you can have a taller sidewall height with the proper size tire (such as 15" wheels with 195/50-15).
The other problems with the oversized 205/45-16 are that the larger diameter will make your car accelerate slower (having the same effect as putting taller gears on your car) and it will throw off the accuracy of your speedometer and odometer. Those are the FACTS.

NOT TRUE. The website for Discount Tires gives every tire size under the sun, including good sizes and bad sizes. The first size listed there, 205/40-16, is the proper one for a '92 Civic.
Here, you can check the outer diameter of the tire sizes and see for yourself why 205/40-16 is the best matching size:
175/70-13: 22.66" (stock)
205/40-16: 22.46" (-0.8 percent)
205/45-16: 23:26" (+2.7 percent)
So please, STOP POSTING WRONG INFORMATION HERE.
For a '92 Civic with 16" wheels, 205/40-16 is the best tire size. NOT 205/45-16, which is too big.
