Tires for a 97 del Sol
Hello,
I'm looking to replace the tires on my 97 del Sol (VTEC). The current set - Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S - have done around 55k miles. I was just going to replace them with the same. Unfortunately I've not found anybody (Costco, Sears, Wheelworks, etc.) with the correct sized ones (195/60R14) in stock.
I did notice that Michelin now have a 'Defender' brand which is warrantied to 90k miles, which would be nice, but they only come in 195/70R14. Does anybody know if these would fit the del Sol?
Beyond that, if anybody knows of a good source for the Michelins in the bay area, or has other recommendations for good long-lasting tires, I'd be very interested to hear about them! Thanks,
DH

Yes 70's will fit a sol, 10mm is not much it will look goofy with truck sized sidewall, but if u have to have 90k out of them so be buy them, personally i will never buy a michelin tire but hay its all what u want
Check this link to tire rack and your current sized tires. I think discount tire (if you have them in your area may be a dealer for them)

No, do not put 195/70r14s on your car. They will make your speedometer read incorrectly. 14 inch wheels are getting harder and harder to find the correct tires for. 205/55R14 or 185/65R14 would be proper alternate sizes.

Would you have any particular recommendations for tires? Snow isn't an issue (don't have it around here), but something that handles the rain and will last would be much appreciated.

Still plenty of options out there in that size. Heres a start:

also, the s, and si model del Sol's come factory with a 185/60-14 which also would not be a bad size for your vtec model. The same Michelin's you currently have are available in this size as well

WE hope to get the Pilot Exalto(195/60R14) back in stock in a few weeks. If you need something else, consider the BFG Super Sport AS as the closest replacement (as they are manufactured by Michelin.
