Re: site for cheap tires (cilvia)
It never hurts to compare prices. Places worth checking include:
Tire Rack
Discount Tire
Vulcan Tire
When comparing these as well as local places, don't forget to compare the "bottom line", including adjustments for different charges to make the comparison "apples to apples". For example, local stores usually charge your location's sales tax, while mail-order places don't. Mail-order places usually charge for shipping (typically $9-12 per tire), but it's free within the U.S. at Discount Tire. You'll need to pay for mounting and balancing (typically $10-20 per tire), but local stores may include that for free.
For 205/45-16, in an area like yours where you don't have to worry about driving in snow or bitter cold, you're not going to find anything really good for $50 each. I suggest spending a little more for a good tire. In 205/45-16, the Kumho SPT is $74 per tire with free shipping at Discount Tire.

Re: site for cheap tires (huevosrancheros)
Shop around. When I've compared prices, any site may come up the lowest, depending on the tire. I haven't found Edge Racing to be cheaper than other sites, except for certain Toyo tires, which the others I mentioned don't carry. But hey, it never hurts to check.
Edge Racing is located only in Florida, which may affect their rates for shipping depending on where you're located. Similarly, tires-easy is only in California. Both may charge sales tax to in-state residents. The three I listed all have multiple warehouses across the country so they don't usually have to ship tires from one side of the country to the other, and they don't usually charge sales tax.
Check them all for the tire you want, and buy where the bottom line is cheapest.
Oh, and just to use those 205/45-16 SPT as an example...
Discount Tire $74 with free shipping
Tire Rack $77 plus shipping (est $86-89 with shipping)
tires-easy $76 plus shipping (est $85-88 with shipping)
Vulcan Tire discontinued carrying them
Edge Racing doesn't have them
