HX Rims Clearing GSR Brakes
Hey guys, I'm putting on GSR brakes all around on my EG hatch, and I want to keep the hx rims I have right now because they're not too fancy, but have a nice look to them (especially since my friend's dc2 just got stolen with SSR's ); Anyway I hear that the 14" hx rims will clear the gsr calipers if I grind them down with a dremel to about 1/16" - 1/8" of an inch. OR that I can simply use a spacer, but how big of a spacer? Is grounding down the caliper that hard/risky as well as using a spacer? I'd want to avoid extended lugs, and if I shouldn't do any of the above, what are decent, cheap, close to stock rims (perhaps SI rims)?

its not risky grinding the caliper down( there is plenty of extra material from casting)..but i dont think your gonna get far with a dremel without wasting tons of money. just find a electric grinder and get at it..do a little fit the wheel(do not drive it) and check clearance..gl

Lol. Has anyone done this before? I want to know which part of the bracket I grind. I'm doing the whole disk conversion this weekend, and I want to have things straight before I dive in

i have a ej8 and share the same size brakes as the si and gsr and i shaved down the bar that you see on the caliper like 3mm and i also had to get a 3mm spacer on them. i didnt trust taking 5mm off the caliper and i got tired so with taking 3mm off and adding the spacer i have a nice 3-5mm gap betwen the wheel and anything and dont worrie about the spacer its so thin that you dont get vibrations or anytihing and theres enought threads to feel real safe and the hub still sits on the rotor lip enough. i went to my local performance shop and was worried they would shake while driving on the highway so they let me try them for free and i got up to 65,70,90 and no shaking so i got them and wont look back.
