Help me. My tires keep going flat.
Every day or 2 the driver side front and rear tires go flat. the wheels and tires have less than 200 miles on them. My friend bought them about 2 years ago and put them on his car and stuck the car in his garage for 2 years. So do I need to get the tires mounted and balanced?
thanks

if you can't see any evidence of a leak on the rubber... then perhaps your valve stem has a leak.
Take some soapy water and a paint brush. Brush the soapy water on the tire and wait to see where it bubbles.... that is your leak.

I'm fed up with the tires. I took them off today. I am going to give them to my friend. He'll take them to his shop and take a look at them.

The wheels look fine. No dents that I can see. Like I said they have a total of maybe 150 miles on the them in 2 years.

Re: Help me. My tires keep going flat. (dpine)
Well my friend found no leaks in the tires. He did however remount and balance them for me and put new valve stems and a bead around the tires before mountind them. Well WHEN i got home last night my front passenger tire was flat (3rd tire)!!! So I pumped it up and reinstalled the 2 tires ( he put 30 psi in them). My question is 30psi going to be enough tire pressure for 205/40/16's or do I need to go up to 35-40 psi.
thanks

35-40 would be better
AND I would take the car to a tire shop and watch them dunk all 4 wheels and tires to check for leaks

Dip the tire in water with (my experience) 40-45+ PSI.
When you say you removed the tires, did you dismount the tires from the wheel and have your friend investigate the tire? If so, good luck. He is going to need air to find it.
What type of wheels and what type of tires? Are the wheels chrome? How frequently do you have to refill air and and by how much?

If it is an aluminum wheel it is also possible to have pinholes in the wheel. Check the valve cores, make sure they are tight, and no cracks in the stem. The best thing to do is just dip it on a water tank and hold it down. If there is any type of leak it will show up there.

That's where thin, soapy water will do better.

My friend did dismount the tires and he did look at the tires. Wheels are 16in rota circiut 10's with I thing the name of the tires are winston winners or something(no name tires) in 205/40/16's. It depends some times 2 days some time's 3 days if the car sits. I put 42 psi in all for tires 2 nights ago and so far so good. I will see when I get home today, the car sits during the week.

maybe your wheels are cracked. get a tub of water and test them yourself or hit up discount tire and they will test it for you. small leaks are easily found with a tub full of water. i had a simular problem with an old set of wheels i had and i found a leak in the valve stem. replaced and fixed for $5.
