bigger tires on my CRV
i am getting a bds lift kit on my '99 CRV it will raise it 2 inchs and i was wondering how big can i go with tires? i am new with tires so i don't know anything about them. i want some tires that can handle some off-roading if the chance came. so i want some all-terian tires. so if you could help me out it would be awsome... open for any and all info on tires and different brands...
Thanks

your stock tire is a 205/75r15 and with a 2 inch lift you should be able to at least fit a 225/75r15 or even maybe a 235/75r15...stock overall diameter is 27.11 and 225/75r15 overall is 28.29 and 235/75r15 overall is 28.88......i would start out with a 235/75r15 and see how much room you have after that....any tire shop that is willing to sell you tire's should make the time to see what fit's your needs first and do a test fit for you.....

I don't think you have any idea why you want larger tires. I sure can't understand why you need them, based on your post...

cause one it will look kinda dumb with it raised 2 inches while i am just drivin down the road so i want some bigger tires to fill the space 2 like i said before it gives it a more aggressive look.. and 3 thats just what i want

A larger tire will reduce acceleration, make the speedometer inaccurate, and reduce the amount of torque at the tire. I really don't see how having less useable torque is good for offroad use, especially in such a low powered vehicle to begin with.

Re: bigger tires on my CRV (TunerN00b)
a larger tire will also help me stay out of the mud... give me more of a off road look and it will get me higher off the ground and if you have ever drivin a crv you would know that the acceleration is not that great on a crv anyways... soo there is not much you can do about that... besides it is something i have never done before and i want to know how to do this kind of stuff... its fun and a learning experiance...

You basically just offered 3 different tread width's with the same sidewall height. Plus you're wrong with the original tire size. The original tires were 205/70/15.
What I think the user wanted was some taller tires, as well. 30" tires would be the tallest I'd go on the stock drivetrain. Then the widest I'd go on stock rims, or possibly steelies like pictured, would be 9.5" on those 15" rims. So, final size would be 30x9.5x15.
Something like these Yokohama Geolander's would work great.

Re: bigger tires on my CRV (FATKID87)
the wheel in that picture is a unique 297 or 298 i always get them confused..one comes in blk and the other comes in chrome....you want a 15x7 with a positive offset rim...that is all you need besides the tires

Re: bigger tires on my CRV (vtecsi00)
so i can't get some random wheel? just go out and buy a 15" steelie? i have to get a special kind of rim?

Re: bigger tires on my CRV (FATKID87)
well if you don't want it to stick out to far....having a more negative offset will put the wheel out farther past the fender and can cause even more rubbing issue's...if you get a wheel with like a 10 to 20mm positive offset you should be alright...the wheel that you see in that picture has about that offset...you can get an aluminum wheel or steel wheel as long as it has the right offset....
