What to do with oxygen acetylene tanks?
I have 2 oxygen tanks and 2 acetylene tanks but no use for them? Where can I sell them? Or do some welding supply shops trade tanks for argon/co2?
I've never actually had to go and buy gas myself so I have no idea.

i was under the impression that this was ok as long as you have them upright an hour or so to allow the acetone and acetylene to seperate again.

you can most likley trade the oxygen tanks straight across for argon.
my gas supplier traded my old oxygen tanks for argon plus cost of the fill, testing(since they were expired) and new valves(since he said they had to come out to test the tanks). so I still saved a couple hundred$$ even after paying for all that.

im not sure. the tanks i traded in were only 125cf. I dont think they'll even fill the big *** tanks without having papers for them.

I know when I first started welding I decided to buy some used bottles on Ebay. I received some very good bottles but there was no paperwork. Praxair and Airgas wouldn't touch them. I thought I was SOL but then I found a local small-time welding shop who traded them for his certified, albeit rustier bottles.
The big companies flip out if there is no papers, or if a hydrotest is overdue. Some of the smaller shops are more forgiving. I don't know if that is good or not.
