Yes absolutely, I've built a few titanium dump tubes. Down pipe would be no problem. I do tons of hood exit dumps, actually daily my evo with a dump tube out the hood vent.

No worries I fully understand. How come you dont get those lasered instead of hand cutting. Wouldnt the minor cost of laser outweigh the time it takes to hand cut them and make them consistent?

Fantastic work!!! The consistency is amazing. You need to get into a few more markets, like the GTR.

Thanks Chris, I only do Evos for production work. Local work (anything goes) I've built gtr turbo kits for two different company's. Not much fun to work on haha. I'll have some non evo pictures up very soon!

It does seem like you could make some major coin if you could do some production manifolds for a more big-bucks market like that... Anyone with the ability to pay would gobble up what you are putting out.

It's pretty hard to find time to do these projects when im already completely swamped as is. I'm doing very well for myself with the projects and customers I have now. But when the opportunity comes, ill take it.

Thats great that your doing well Toxic! I agree that you should hit other markets too, but you wont be able to do it yourself...

--if your buisness isnt growing, your going backwards--

No pressure though, your work is top notch and im sure you will stay busy.

Not sure where everyone got the idea I only work on evos, I do work on any car. My focus is more in the evo world sense I drive one. I have many other cars at the shop now I'm working on. One problem is remembering to take pictures of everything I'm building these days.
Thanks

Exactly. This is why I am having such a hard time setting up any production work.
The custom stuff never gives me any real break!
Busy is good though.

Good luck

Your right, busy is good. Sometimes its frustrating not being able to produce new parts do to work load. I have plenty of ideas I want to put into production but finding time is the problem now.

How do you go about charging the customer? Per hour or total for a job no matter how long it takes?

I charge per job, not hourly. Whatever I feel its worth, plus materials calculated in equals the price I charge.

How often do you have to eat up lost hours?

Well, I don't charge hourly. So I don't eat lost hours. I do what needs to be done to finish the job without wasting time. I've built enough manifolds that I know what I need to charge to turn a profit. I also take my time building parts, no rush. As I always promise my customers superb quality work.
Hope this answers your question.

Another thing ive noticed with shops who charge hourly for fab work. They tell a customer one price and it ends up being twice that (because it took longer). Not saying all shops do that, but the ones I've seen do. And a customer always appreciates a price that doesn't change.

Couldnt have said it better my self. I've never changed my price if I have made a ****up pricing it.. it's my mistake, a quote is a quote.

I usually work off of a flat-rate quote for exhaust, but if it's very custom or is a repair, it's hourly. I have better things to do than work for free.
