Default some of my fab work

Hey everyone, my name is Russ im new on here and a big fan of the site. im a ASE certified mechanic i work full time at a repair shop, in time id like to open my open or at least work at a custom/fab/tuning/repair shop. i figured i would post up some of the things i have made for myself and friends. I have a 94 integra im pretty much building for fit, mock up and learn more on tuning ( and some fun on the side).. so here goes feel free to let me know what you guys think/ tips ect, any questions ask.

first manifold I mad for my integra. i dont have access to a tig welding so for now im welding with a mig, till i save up for a tig. this mani seems to work well spools fast hits full boost (9psi) around 3500 on a ls with BC stage 2 all motor cams. seems to run well taking it to 8k spins in third gear on a street tune.

now heres a pic of the first header i have made for one of my friends. its a k swap header for a integra. took me about 4-5 hours to make this, it has a 3'' collector.

and now im in the process of making a topmount for my integra..
first i used pvc pipe to figure out the angle for my t3 collector.

Slow down. Take some more time with your work! Your mig settings aren't dialed, you were hot and didn't have enough wire speed. Take some time with the fit up and get in the habit of chamfering every joint. I would have saved the money on stainless if you were gonna weld it together with e70

Ok, I did try a colder setting at first didn't seem to get good penetration. If I use more wire speed it kicks back. And I did chamfer the ends. Thanks for the advice though I will play around more and see what happens.

here is a vid of my car on 9 to 10 psi.. cant really tell how laggy it is but watching my data logs im not getting psi until 4500 i see 1.5psi 5k around 3.5 psi and full boost at 7200 ish.. revving to 8200.. needles to say the turbo is to big, so im looking for a smaller one..

and i started making a ramhorn for a friend. i started to use ss wire on my mig until i get a tig. let me know what u think.. thanks for looking.

You should really practice your mig on scrap metal. There is no reason it has to be blobbed into the collector. Make up some practice pieces to weld on out of cheap mild and go to town. You are definitely on the right track, your welding just needs some help.

yeah the collector welds didnt turn out to well, can you be more specific on what im doing wrong? Im all for improving, not giving up until I master it.. thanks for your input.

I believe TinyT is mentioning that your collector has too much weld blobbed. You may want to slow your wire speed down or move faster to reduce the amount of blobb. Hope that helps.....correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a lincoln pro core 125 mig, heat setting is D, E being the hottest, wire speed I just kinna play with it till it sounds good. I was kinna reluctant to post pics of my first one haha, but the way I see it everyone has to start somewhere and with each one I learn more. Im gonna start looking at tig welders soon so I can do this the right way.

Man I can't even lay a nice mig bead with a welder with those settings, so I feel for ya now. How are you positioning the manifold when you weld it? It kind of looks like you were welding down with a lot of heat and trying to chase the puddle.

Get some practice pieces setup and try this technique
