Building my own forward facing manifold...DSM
Taking a stab at building my own forward facing manifold. Got it where i wanted it to only realize the oil drain from the turbo is basically parallel with the drain into the pan...so that wont work, but just playin around i came up with this, almost makes me wanna run a scavenging pump.
Heres one i helped fab on my buddys racecar.
Heres the one im building for my personal car,

someone clue me in here. why mock up your runners without the friggin head flange on there? only to break it apart to redo it later?

The head flange will fit on there no problem. The position of the turbo on the mock up stand is adjustable, so with the turn of a 10mm bolt it moves right out of the way. The flange was on back order so ive had to wait for it.

A 4G63 flange on backorder, where are you ordering from? if you still need one i have like a dozen on the shelf.

Just out of curiosity to the guys who do this a lot. Is it better to build from the turbo to the head or from the head to the turbo?
PS, lookin good, but I agree with the tacks. They look really rough lol.

That first pic i posted at the top, we started at the head and worked to the collector. Obivously on mine i started at the collector. Depends on the parts available and situation.

I'm curious to how your welder will be welding this? Cutting the runners off and welding them? If so, why so many tacks to the collector? Sense there is only the fixture holding the turbo on the car, and no jig for it to be bolted into while runners are taken off for welding. What is your plan? Also, it doesn't look like you compensated for the runners shrinking and moving around while welding. So between that, and no head flange for mock up, I have a feeling you will be running into alignment issues with the runners. Other then that, I truly like the look of it, along with the low angle collector. I'm in for the finished product.

Well im mocking it up in the car. The head flange showed up today and finish mock up was with the flange on the head. sorry, the pic doesnt show it. I left the head flange off for the ease of being able to remove runners easily for my welder. The guy thats TIG'n it for me has been welding for several years and has made several manifolds. Im working with very primitive tools in my shop. So i just get everything very close and then assist my welder in the final Welding. Hpefuly tomorrow afternoon ill have the finished product.

When you get a tig, tacking with those is so easy. No filler needed, just quickly fuse them together.
