Race radiator build pics. (56k die)
Hi guys, long time listener, first time talker.. I thought i'd show you guys what I get up to for a job, I'd love to do this stuff for my self..
I work for a radiator wholesale provider in Christchurch, New Zealand. I make alloy intercoolers/oilcoolers, radiators and pretty bling stuff, Would love to get into ss manifolds and so forth but I only do alloy..
Tanks welded on ready to pressure test to 20psi.
Closeup of weld before sideframes are put on
In fresh clean water with tankblock (kills acids in radiator test tanks, but it really helps find small pinhole leaks)
closeup of said picture
with sideframes on and bonded to the core with epoxy
closeup for sideframe to tank weld
close up of header plate to tank weld
And last of all, my baby! I need to clean her..
Comments and critique?

Well, you're aluminum welds are very good, it's hard to imagine that you don't do SS. Aluminum requires quick decision making, and good rhythm, so I'm sure you will pick up SS easily ...
Nice work!

I've been welding for 2 years coming up december.. But, I have been welding basically every business day, from repairs to complete units..

Thankyou! Alloy has alot more tendancy to burn away, it's all about heat control.. I couldnt get the hang of SS when I first tried it because I tried to weld it like alloy..

Customer doesnt know the final position of the other pipe, he's going to mark it in the chassis then bring it back in.

Hi Dave, We actually get them from an American supplier called All Rads..
They are advertised as radiator test bungs, we get them from 16mm through to 76mm in closed and open stem.
They are just a brass washer top and bottom with a rubber bung and either a hole through the center of the bolt or not..
Really really handy
