Quad Throttle set up for B16b - Hybrid/Custom heaps of pics
Well - as stated I made these for a guy for his B16b. Originally he gave me a set of quads of a toyota - and with alot of work - I turned them into something he was very happy with.
It all started here - with making the trumpets, and the adaptors
Then I flared the trumpets out and welded them to the adaptors.
The flange
Turned out there was no way in hell this idea was going to work out
So onto the custom runners
Holes cut for the throttle assembly to move properly
Length of quads compared to b16 and H22 intakes
My jig for getting the angle right for the injectors
The Mock injectors and the injector holders i made up in the lathe
Set up
Welded on
Air temp sensor mounting
Water pipes
Nearly finished
Vacuum outlets
Runners finished - with mounts for fuel rail
All finished
With vacuum tank

awesome work!
not ******* on ur work... but wud it be easier if u just cut up an oem b16 manifold, shave off the runners flush to the flange and leaving its oem injector holes?
none the less, u did an awesome job! and it looks clean, if u can add a little length to the whole runner total.. that wud prolly help out too, maybe in the 10inch range
excellent job! thumbs up!

No kidding, looks good, but damn, if somebody paid hourly for that I know it was expensive!

I'm not a big fan of welding to "castings" so I figured I'd just do it all my way. Plus - the injectors would have come out on the wrong angle and the fuel rail would have been in the way of the throttle bodies if I used the OEM flange. The way I've done it really does make it a "One Off". Also - the torque that the car has now is very impressive. The runners are (according to the dyno) the perfect length. I'll see If I can get the dyno sheet off the guy and post it up.
Time wise - you don't want to know  The time i spent mucking round with ideas would go into the vicinity of 25 + hours. If I had to make some again then I wouldn't charge any less than $1800 NZDollars. But the guy I made them for is a mate and since it was the first set I've ever made I gave him a good price (think well under a grand) Plus you can buy a set off the shelf for less than what I'd make another set for so I wouldn't bother unless someone wanted them specifically.
I'm waiting for some pics of them installed - then I'll post them up.

Greetings Josh,
I'm also from new zealand but from skyline blood (ahhh!) did you use 1.6mm or 2.4mm filler rod? Looks good though, I'll post up progress of my plenum at some stage.. (I'm from A1 Radiators in Christchurch BTW)
