opininos on this welder. miller syncrowave 350 lx
so a few years ago i wanted to build some manifolds, at two different times i purchased a miller syncrowave 200 tig. i never got a chance to use either one of them due to house/electric restrictions.
so i am looking at getting a new shop soon that will be set up for a tig welder. i been looking around at a few upgrades and came accross the miller syncrowave 350 dx.
now there two on ebay that seem to be good prices
this one looks to have the runner kit
http://cgi.ebay.com/Miller-Syncrowav...item2560cdf169
this one seems to be "new" slightly dented.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
the miller website has them starting at $5600 without the runner.
so if i was able to get one of these off ebay for 3200-3500 would that be a decent deal. more then likely i would have to get a new torch, ground cable, regulator ect.
looking for something thats going to be real good with aluminum. i am working with a $3500 budget.

Bought an LX tig runner package on CL for 2k and sold it a week later for 2500 recently. Good unit, you need a lot of amps to run it. Make sure you shop isnt rocking some 30 amp 240 circuit.

Its an OK deal.. I mean for the damage, I'd rather just spend 400 more and get a brand spanken new machine.. Cyberweld.com has them for 4,38x.xx

well if i can get the one with the bent fins in the back for $3200 shipped ill thing i got a pretty good deal. ill prob never see the back of the machine once i put it in place.
the other one, i am waiting to hear back form the seller. i am trying to hustle him down to $3200 but it has the runner package on it thats worth another $500 or so. i just want to make sure that is actually a "new" unit

A 350amp machine is great and all but I think it's overkill for anything we do...meaning automotive use. I'd find a nice inverter machine with a 200-250amp range and a watercooler. They use less energy and aren't a bear claw when trying to transport it.
It's like trying to find a huge big screen projection TV when you can just find a nice plasma or LCD nowadays for cheap.

Are you using this in your house? IIRC these things damn near need their own substation to run lol

personally, i'm not sure how you guys will power the crazy welders. i've been looking at a few and like
http://cgi.ebay.com/Hobart-EZ-TIG-16...#ht_1557wt_905
it's do-able at home and can easily weld up turbo manifolds.
that's $1350 shipped for new

I just bought a Dynasty 200dx w/coolmate package for $3600 shipped on ebay not too long ago. It only has 9hours on it, but that's really nothing. I've seen several other demo units up for sale lately too. IMO Dynasty>Syncro without a doubt
