Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
I built a RWD GSR Del Sol a few years ago in SoCal and just brought it out to where I am now (Columbus Ohio).. How did you register yours??? Is it test only or did you luck out?? I am assuming you do what most do and just "get it smogged".. I brought it out here cuz I am going to Ohio State University and want to clean it up while I am out here to possibly take a shot at passing the BAR exam.. I haven't looked much into it but if you know any loop holes I would appreciate some insight..

Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
Columbus does not do emissions testing. When you register your car with Ohio at the dmv they check your dash vin, to make sure it matches the title and your mileage, to make sure it matches the title. They don't look at anything else.Unless your asking about getting it bar'd back in Cali
step1: buy crx
step2: smog crx
step3: make engine in the trunk :-)
I'm very careful about driving it around on the streets, I have NO idea what is going to happen when I get pulled over and he asks me to "pop my hood"

Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
in SoCal you have to smog your car every two years.. they say its a lottery whether you have to go to a "test only" smog shop or just a normal smog shop.. test only shops are REALLY strict and they will loose their smog license if they do anything wrong.. every one of my cars have been test only and they have all been hondas.. i see a trend.. got mine to pass smog.. did the swap a week later.. and then couldn't drive it two years later.. just went to the bmv in columbus and like cbustuner said.. it was a joke..
as far as antique cars are concerned.. as long as they are old enough they don't have to smog them.. not sure what year the deadline is but i believe its in the 60s

Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
So im setting up my schedule for next month. It looks like there might be a week gap where I'd be able to go pick up the car, trailer to tuning. then drags that weekend. It would require about 18 hrs of driving though. hmmm oh so temping

take a look at the pictures. it works exactly the same as normal but it goes backwards with a U on it that connects to the shifter selector shaft.

Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
Well, borrowed a trailer, stole a truck, and headed out from humboldt county at 8 am bound for the dyno again. 6 hours later, strapped this "cursed" car down on the dyno for another try. Casey from Enginetiks was nice enough to come in on his day off to finish up tuning the car.
Results
18 psi. pump gas
20 psi 110 octane
Samoa drag strip is open this weekend, I will be there.

Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
impressions after driving the car:
wow.
This amount of power in such a small, short car is interesting at best. I've been spending the afternoon setting up my boost control per gear, and I don't think Ill even end up using most of this power.

great fab work. great engineering skills. I read the entire thread this spring and i'm super impressed with it all. Great numbers, it looks amazing, and I cant wait to see some videos of it in autocross.
