Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
I am not looking forward to this part
Spent pretty much all day stripping, and sanding
3 days worth of stripping, wire wheel scotbrite and sanding later.... finally Sprayed with etching primer

Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
I don't know anything about bodywork and I've only sort of painted a car in the past, But I am nearly fearless with a cutoff wheel and a mig welder. The rear right quarter panel was extremely rusted out, with several holes and thin spots. I thought about just trying to fill it, but then decided what the heck I already fit a motor in the trunk...why not try to replace it?

Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
dont know if anyone else said this but the rear end of that car doesn't look too strong nor does it look very attatched. I hope that angle iron isn't the only thing holding it together.

One thing that is supposed to work well for paint on plastic is brake fluid. Soak a rag and let it sit on a spot for a while, clean, then do another spot. Or are you trying to leave the stock blue paint on?

Be carefull with that, brake fluid can eat away at the plastic, deforming it.

Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
It's a CRX, not a deuce and a half. I'd surmise the rear is even stiffer now, since it's using the front frame rails. The stock rearend is basicly formed sheet metal tied together with the lower x-member (lca mounts).

Not keeping the blue paint, just need to get all of the spaypant off to get a good base to primer and spay.
anybody in the sacramento area have a pass. fender, door moldings or 90-91 tail lights?
by the way, sanding quarter panels sucks. :-(
Thanks for the interest! -Caleb

Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
Finally got my quarter panel as straight as Im going to bother. Painted the rear quarter panels, door jams and roof.
only thing left to do is the hood and hatch! Perfect timing, engine shop called today to tell me that my bottom end is ready to be picked up :-)

Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
absolutely badass, i want one. I was thinking of this idead for you taken from a nsx, if you were still going to run a air to air intercooler. Cutting a hole in the rear hatch glass, and running a roof scoop. or hatch scoop. lol and a exit out the back of the hatch. idk just a thought but i bet the water to air will work wonders.

Re: My mid engine RWD turbo CRX
Update!
Picked up my block from the shop the other day, looks pretty good. Darton sleeved 85mm GSR with wiseco 8-1 pistons... eagle rods. What kind of boost do you guys think I should run?
The hatch the is only thing left that needs to be painted white, so motor assembly should start very soon!
The "parts room" is filling up! I dont see how such a little car can take up so much space when its all taken apart
Lol sunroof
Goal this weekend is to finish painting white, and build some kind of hood shocks up front
