Im about to do a RHD conversion aswell as shaving a bunch of stuff in my engine bay. Im looking to use a decent MIG welder, but I am unsure of the shielding gas I should use. I have done a bunch of flux core welding, but its never any fun with sheet metal. From my understanding c02 is the most common for mig?

Im looking at the Millermatic 140 to get the job done and some other light metal work.

I was thinking about just getting a TIG such as the diversion 165, but I have read that the MIG is more forgiving with dirtier materials such as an engine bay. I'll evetually pick up a tig, but im just looking for something to get this particular job done.

seems like a simple question... which type of gas do you guys recommend? 109 views and nothing.

CO2 will work but it will pop more than a CO2/Argon mix, its a small thing to deal with plus it's cheaper than a CO2/Argon mix

I prefer a 25/75 Co2/Argon mix. It welds much smoother than straight Co2.
