I would've redone the sump of the pan and put the engine lower.

That bulge shape would be pretty tit to make out of steel and just tig it into the hood. it would look badass on the underside if you left the weld and just painted it.

Gotcha....
Regardless im just concerned of its potential overall. WHP on paper wont always translate into fast times at the track. Im torn between going back to a K or trying out the J swap. It took me 237whp to go 11.50's at over 116mph. Theres plenty of power potential with the J's but i'd hate to go through the trouble to end up going slower.

I cut too much of the hood...the white duct tape make for a really good outline. I'm getting the original hood for the car soon(mint condition), and will trace the template over to have a clean cutout
could you fab the hood like the e9x M3's? "Powder Dome"

The swap was fairly simple. The flat torque curve, great transmission, and plenty of room to make power is why I did the swap. Will be a blast for track days Won't hurt that it will run a decent 1/4 mile as well

If you compare reference points at the swaybar, the oil pan sits about 1/2" at most, lower than the trans. Not enough to justify a custom oil pan, just to lower the engine. A small hood bump and a custom, better flowing intake plenum would be a much wiser choice.
Is you EJ2/J32 running?
