Icon3 I hate for it to come to this...

I have to call out Straight Line Specialties as having the absolutely worst service I've ever had from a company. The task was simple. I had talked to Nick almost a year ago about replicating a flange I had, and being able to sell them to me in the future as I need them. He agree'd, and I had promptly sent out the flange and a gasket. Over 50 PM's and many phone calls later (never answered BTW) I am still without a flange. I was so fed up with the horrible service I asked nick for a log flange, and to send me back what I had sent him. He agreed. Two weeks later I received the log flange, but guess what I was missing? Thats right.

At this point, I could care less if I even get that flange back.

All I wanted to say was, how the hell is a buisness like this still around? I mean...seriously how hard is it to make a god damn flange. I was tempted to go local, but then SLS already had my honda flanges in stock. It's sad that a company with great quality can suck this bad at everything else.

To Nick and the rest of you at SLS... I hope you burn in hell.

Just thought I'd share.

lol, i bet there'll be plenty of nutswingers that post in here to defend them, none of which probably have ever been in a situation where any medium of communication results in fail.

i have. phone calls, voicemails, texts, p/ms, emails...all go unanswered. in 2009 a business must thrive on it's ability to communicate with customers, suppliers, etc.

props for your patience, i don't let **** like that go for more than 1-2 months.

You know, if it was a rush item I would have dropped them within a couple weeks. However, since this was a long term project I was fine waiting. Waiting almost a year though... just a little rediculous.

Thanks.

lol, You can legally mail someone **** once. This sounds like a perfect time to use your one time up. I would recommend something in the dog variety, in this day and age they might get you for bio-terrorism if you use human. google it if you dont believe me.

Thanks for sharing.. I was just about to place an order on a few SLS manifolds, but good thing I did a little searching first. Some companies are great for the first year, and next thing you know, everything falls apart for them (real expenses start coming up, etc...) and they ignore their customers and just in for a cash grab so to speak.

I have ordered from SLS before. They messed up my order and sent me something I didn't order (a flange) but didn't send the correct one I wanted. It worked out for me, I used what they gave me so I never complained. But that was the only time I ordered from them.

I will give them props for some of the best quality products i've seen, but would agree that shipping times and getting ahold of them could be better. From my experience when not able to reach them over the phone they have returned my calls, but Pm's are usually the best way of getting ahold of them. I will continue to get my flanges from them for quality purposes.

They are in Fargo, which is flooding like crazy right now, no?

That's no excuse for them not communicating properly before, but just an FYI.

They haven't been flooded for the whole past year have they? Just an FYI...

Yes, it sucks when someone claims as being a business but they don't act like it. Sorry to hear about your problem. I'll put their name on the list of people not to deal with.

I have only ordered from them twice and it was within a month. The first time they got my order out the door the next day and I received it a few days later. The second time took about 2 weeks for me to get it. After the first week I sent a couple emails and a couple PMs on here. They were answer but I was not given the information I wanted. Anyways, I got all my stuff and I have to agree...They do have some nice stuff! The head flanges are very nice! but they can use some help in their customer service.

I ordered their b-series shorty manifold, and the first one got lost in the ****ing mail they claim, so after a month of waiting I called and asked where my manifold was. $440 is a lot of money to get lost in the mail, where is the insurance mother ****ers? So they send me another one after about 2 weeks and then I finally get it 2 weeks later so all in all I waited almost 2 months for a manifold to be shipped. Let me say this products is exceptionally nice quality but their service is **** poor and those good damn rednecks need to loose the flatland accent.

Send your flange business to Weir... I was always pleased with service/product from him. I don't doubt he could do the custom flange also.

because for the first year they are busting their butts to get new customers and build that customer base

then they end up with too large of a customer base but not enough profit margin to hire enough help to handle their workload, work gets backed up a week, then 2 and so on untill a situation arises where they limit their work to what they can put out, or they hire an employee so they can handle the orders

I bought a merge collector from them last year, before their new site if you look it shows a welded merge collector with a flange on it..

http://straightlinespecialties.com/s...19873979ec4c67

I ordered one and it came as a tack welded merge collector with no flange..

Total BS and false advertising, after numerous emails the guy pretty much told me to F off after i told him i wanted to send it back because it was not represented correctly on their site.

What's odd, is that it's only with the Honda/Import related fabricators or dealers that I've had this problem with time and time again. I could probubly list off at least 20+ vendors that I've delt with that I've had some form of issue with. The Jeep market/scene has been completely different for me though (honest, reliable, and helpful).

I'm just so shaky on dealing with Canadians....they're out to get us.....lol. No, for real though, Weir's a good dude. Just sucks he's up there and not in the U.S. cause that conversion and shipping sucks.

I've dealt with SLS a bit. It sucks to see that there are some issues surfacing, but I've been caught up in that a bit too over the years. Who knows what's happening. The best thing would be for Nick to post up and just be opened about it.

These threads suck and as a business owner i hate seeing them. Alot of times from a business perspective stuff just gets.....overwhelming. Plenty of time you just want to not answer that phone or the email...but it only makes things worse. I thought SLS had a good thing going though. I'd dealt with shipping delays in the past, but it was never too incredibly bad...just a few weeks on flanges.

I'd imagine the shop is just too busy and they are trying to keep a tight staff due to the economy out there. I know I'm at my whits end and nearly going under after 10 years. I can't afford to employ any more people than I have now, and getting everything done is getting tough. On the flipside though, the bottom could drop out tomorrow.

I know where your comin from [O.P.], but these threads follow people forever. Google caches it, and the impact of this thread could go a long way to hurting their business. It's just a bad situation period.

Good luck to all involved.
