Best affordable way to Notch Cromoly Tubing?
I have an S&W 8pt that for the most parts fits ok, it does not include the rocker to rocker bar so I have to add that and notch the d-bars to weld onto this bar. I also have the added rear x-brace that is not notched at all so that also has to be done. I noticed S&W used a plasma gun to notch their piping. I do not have one of those but I do have a large drill press, what is recommended to notch the tubing w/o buying a $500+ tubing notcher? The tubing size is .083 Moly, is there a recommended bit that I can use to notch the bars?
Also on the X-Brace's, I searched forever and could not find a picture of another car that had one, I am pretty sure it mounts inbetween the rear diagonals, but could it also mount from the main hoop where the diagonals are to possibly the floor area? I have never seen any specs for this, I know it is not needed but I like the look of it and the added bracing. I still need to purchase a 6' piece of .083 for the rocker bar and have been unsuccessful in finding anything locally, closet place I can find is S&W with is about an hour North of me, any recommended places to source some Moly Tubing online? Any help is appreciated

There was some light slag, looks like they took the bulk of it off. I am pretty sure it was a plasma, sure as hell wasnt a torch and does not look like the cut a bit would make.

you make it sound so easy your in my neck of the woods, you ever dealt with any companies that stock Moly Tube?
Any of you guys know about the X-Brace? Possibly some pics or a link?

yea, I believe its place is in between the rear diagonals, just not sure if it should be connected where the diagonals meet the main hoop or in the middle or towards the bottom where the plates are. It is not sized large enough to span the full length of the diagonals, the whole cage would have to be much larger for that to happen if you understand what I am saying.

lolz, I am not sure, why I am asking yall
The car in the pic has its placed way differently than I thought it would go. Same concept though, never tought about mounting the bottom half to the shock tower, I though its main purpose was to keep the diagonals from collapsing in-ward, maybe I am wrong, I get no replies from S&W.

here we go, here is the back of my car as I was test fitting ****, red or green for the X Brace
Red goes from the top of the main hoop where the diagonals connect to wherever they meet the diagonals further down.
Green goes from the harness bar to the shock tower.

I use the harbor freight one... it gets me through about 2 cages before it breaks... but at $60 you can beat it.

yea I was just looking at that, was wondering what kept the shaft lube'd while it was spinning, I just bid on one from The Eastwood Company on Egay, I have used products that they sell before and they are a respectable company, cost $60 + shipping but it looks decent.

I have the aluminum harbor freight one, and I have used the living heck out of it. Bet I have at least 700 notches made with it, with more than half been in sch 10 stainless pipe. Moly tube is like cutting butter in comparison. Catch it on sale and they are like $30.
I bought it as one of those get me through a project items so I can buy a nicer one, but never have had to.
I did have to do a little bit tinkering with it though. The V notch that holds the pipe wasn't perfect and it would cause the notch to be a little off center. About ten minutes with the grinder and about 2 feet of plastic pipe and it is one pretty good now.
