You are the MAN. If your car was running 11's and you made that catch can, no one would have ever thought of doing it. Dont forget you are one of the great icons in the Honda world so evrything you do WILL be copied. I also had a can made somewhat similar after reading some of your threads.

nice catch can, you guys can;t be serious about thinking this is a copy on T1's. I think you did a good job on it and had no intention to copy or duplicate t1. Anyways enough of that! I have a question for you...........
Where does that aluminum exhaust start? Aren't you a little worried that you made the exhaust system out of aluminum? Consdering the temperatures and fatigue that exhaust will experience i am not sure aluminum is the best idea considering its properties.

typically as long as the downpipe is steel, the exhaust will be fine, it should be cool enough by then (considering this is a turbo car where the exhaust will be hotter than in a naturally aspirated application)

aluminum melts at 1220 degrees

theoretically, by the end of a typical downpipe it should be much cooler than that probably 400-600 degrees

it would be even cooler than that on a naturally aspirated engine

do you know what your pistons are made out of and what temperatures they see inside the combustion chamber?

first of all OP, you've got *****. My friend copied one of tony's designs and tony killed him, his family, his friends, people that owed him money and then he just disappeared.

or maybe that was kaiser sose. either way.

seriously though, if you're just making parts for your own car i cant see anything wrong with it. if you are making parts to sell then thats pretty fucked up.

as far as the aluminum exhaust goes, what kind of wieght savings are we talking about here? i have zero experience with aluminum tubing.

is there anything special you need to do to have an aluminum exhaust(meaning do you need to do anything special to the metal itself)? how much more expensive is it? does it need to be braced any differently? what are the advantages and disadvantages?

I have no experience either, but i imagine these are some issues:

Adv:
Weight ~ 1/3 the weight of steel
Resistance to corrosion

Dis:
If you bottom out, goodbye aluminum
large amounts of vbands transitions to/from steel if using steel components (dp,res,muf...)

Also found this article on SCCA forum pertaining to aluminum exhausts. Just some others opinions, but some good insight.

Prob 3003 or 3004 right.... It has the highest melting point of the 3000 series AL and welds up the easiest.

Cool. Aluminum exhaust should be pretty light.
Where do you get the mandrel bends for that exhaust?

GFurm - do you have any pictures of the exhaust routed over the rear LCA?
