TW: 2002 RSX Type-S w/ IPS cams, just 33K miles! - Northern Virginia
I don’t drive my car in the winter and am considering selling it to step up to a G35 or something else in the spring… so here’s all the info about it. It has a ton of quality performance and aesthetic mods, and I’m an older driver who has taken great care of this car. It's a 3rd/fun vehicle and I don't drive it nearly enough. Would let it go for an offer over $18K...
2002 Acura RSX Type-S – rare Firepepper Red, Titanium interior
Amazingly has just 33K miles on it!!! Barely even broken in, it is in exceptional condition. Other than some cosmetic blemishes on the front end as to be expected, it still looks like a new car. I’m a non-smoker and the interior is immaculately CLEAN and free of any stains. There are NO door dings and it has no mechanical problems, has never needed any repairs. Ultra-reliable, runs and shifts awesomely, the tranny has never had any issues. Pulls damn hard and revs to 9K (an IPS-cammed K20 puts a smile on your face every time). The exhaust setup passes emissions and has a low low tone with a satisfyingly aggressive growl when you get on it, without being loud or drony; it’s very civilized and you don’t have to worry about attracting negative attention. Oil changed every 5K with Mobil-1. Front brake service & brake fluid change done recently. Just about everything has been done by me, I have 20 years experience tinkering with cars, and am meticulous in doing things right.
Modifications are as follows (not parting anything out):
Engine:
- Intrinsic Performance Solutions K2 camshafts, set #027. These are an engraved set from the first production run and have performed flawlessly since day one. original IPS box would be provided
- Toda Racing valve springs
- Hondata K-Pro (have original box for this as well)
- Injen CAI (red anodized edition)
- Maxbore modified OEM throttle body, 70mm opening tapered to 65mm throttle plate
- Type-R intake manifold port-matched to the TB
- Hondata intake manifold gasket
- Type-R red valve cover & silver ignition coil cover
- DIY ground wires
- SureDrain oil drain kit
- Unorthodox Racing polished Ultra SS pulleys
- DC Sports shorty header
- Carsound 94166 high-flow catalytic converter with 2.5” piping
- Invidia G200 stainless steel exhaust with titanium tip
- J’s Racing engine torque dampener
Suspension, Wheels, Tires:
- Tanabe Sustec front strut bar
- Neuspeed X-brace
- Goldline street springs, 1.5” drop
- Type-R 22mm rear sway bar
- SPC rear camber kit
- Rays G-Games 77W wheels in GOLD w/ polished lip, 18x7.5”, +42mm offset, black lugnuts
- Falken Azenis ST-115 tires, 225-40-zr18 (wheels & tires are like new with less than 8K miles on them)
Exterior:
- OEM body kit with gold Type-S emblems
- Grillcraft black grilles
- Rockblocker clear bra (starting to show its age up close, but still looks good if you keep it waxed/polished)
- Sun-Gard window tint (legal 50%/35%)
- Redout rear turn signals
Interior:
- Upgraded seats from a 2005! (significant difference in comfort and are made with better leather)
- Type-R shift ****, Pro1 short shift adapter, PreciseShift shifter bushings
- OBX titanium pedals
- Red domelight
- Dynamatted hatch area
- (Aftermarket stereo stuff will be removed and stock Bose headunit put back in)
I have a few other extras for it, like the service manual, an oil vapor catch can, parts for a mini shift light, and some K&N oil filters. If a prospective buyer comes close to my asking price I will throw in a Jackson Racing Race Header. Here’s a few pics; I will try to get some better ones in the daytime that show off the true beauty of Firepepper Red. Post up or email me if you have any questions
