** FS: EK Hatch with fresh B18C JDM ITR + goodies!
hey guys, i think it's finally time to let go of my baby for 2 years.
She's a 1997 Honda Civic DX Hatch with a transplanted B18C JDM ITR heart that sings like no other engine! CLEAN TITLE!
I got her back in late November 2007 when I got addicted onto cars because of influence from my friends here who track and auto-x a lot. Spent 2-2.5 months scouring honda-tech everyday and finally tracked down this baby in Chicago, IL.
It was love at first sight really. Once I saw her, I had to get her. But now that I'm done with school here (yay!) it's time to leave and I'm going to let her go.
I regularly track her every other month or so at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit north of Tulsa. This car is seriously fast on the track with R-compounds. I consistently lap the track in the 1:33s going anti-clockwise on the track. I can consider myself to be a reasonably good track driver, thus, stresses on the tranny are always limited because I upshift after WOT at bout 8500rpms and always heel and toe to match revs nicely. Come see the car and I'll show you what it can do. I keep up and alot of the times, beat, higher HP cars on the corners and lose out on the straights of course but this is seriously a fun *** drive!
Early this year, I flooded the engine (stupid rains in Wichita.) because visibility was zero and before you knew it, i was in a "pond" literally in the middle of a road but she kept pushing on. But a stupid *** truck in front of me stopped. For what reasons that a truck that's all high and mighty stopped in the middle of a flooded section of a road I do now know and probably will not but that ******* made me mad. She died like 5 ft from the edge of the water but the damage was already done.
I wanted to part her out but then I still wanted to drive her hard so I tore her down and rebuilt the entire bottom end of the engine.
Major issues were that the block cylinders were tapered and so I replaced the pistons with brand new JDM ITR pistons to keep the same comp. ratio but oversized 0.25. Then, all seals, rings, bearings were all replaced brand new. When I bought the car, the previous owner didn't know how many miles she had but estimated about 60,000 miles. When I opened the engine up, the entire head and the block along with the pistons showed ZERO sludge, beautiful engine oil color and was clean as F**K! I asked a tuner here and he estimated the engine was probably a 40k mile engine and below at that point.
So I rebuilt her through the summer and as of today she's run close to 2000 miles. All the rings are seated nicely and she makes good good power. ITRs typically run out of breath at about 8200 but you can feel her pull all the way to 8500rpms.
Here are the list of things she has on her:
Exterior
96-98 Civic CF Hood
Spoon Style CF Duckbill
VIS Racing CF Hatch
Wheels n tires + Suspension
Konigs with 2 Falken Ziex 912 205/15/50 Rear and Dunlop
Buddy Clubs with Hankook Ventus Z214 R-Compound 205/15/50
H&R Street Coilovers (I don't know the spring rates but these are only height adjustable but handle really well on the track in its current setup)
Spoon Replica Strut Bar Front + Rear
Brakes
GSR brakes all way round (4 wheel disc brakes)
EBC Yellow pads (amazing for track + street use)
Interior
GSR leather interior (Front & Back)
Sparco Corsa Bucket Seat + Rails for driver's side EK
JDM EK9 clock
Civic Si Cluster
Carbon Fibre weighted shift **** (bling ;D)
Exhaust
APEXi WS2 Catback Exhaust EK Hatch - $250
2.5" collector Adjustable Test Pipe - $50
Engine
JDM B18C ITR 96 Spec
Freshly rebuilt engine with 2000 miles on the clock
This is the JDM ITR with the 4.4 final drive in the tranny. NO grinds in all high rpm shifts.
New 0.25 JDM ITR pistons
new OEM rings,
new OEM bearings,
new OEM gaskets,
micropolished crank,
new Exedy Stg1 clutch,
new Moroso Baffled Oil Pan (has turbo feed line but, who the hell turbos JDM ITRs anyway?)
new OEM driver's axle
Fluidyne dual-core radiator with FAL fan (willing to part this out).
K&N air filter.
HASPORT solid billet mounts for the engine and tranny.
Car does not have AC/PS.
There are no issues now with the car. She feels strong on vtec runs and the only thing needed for the car is a better tune and she's probably going to make more power. I haven't had the time to bring her for a tune (Tony in Dallas is the place to go) but as of now, she's running a little on the rich side due to a chipped ECU.
Body wise, I'll be honest still looks amazing for a 12 year old car. She has some dings on the body from dumbasses who don't know how to open their door. She also has a small little rust spot on the right q-panel. But overall on the body, a good 7.5/10 is what i'd rate her at.
Maintenance-wise, I do an oil change with Mobil-1 10w-30 every 3k miles and since the rebuild I've done it with Mobil 5000 for the initial ring seating(one change at 100 miles and another at 500) then flushed and back in goes Mobil-1 @ 1000miles and I'm going to do another one soon. Only use OEM oil filters. S2k filter for the initial 100miles (bigger capacity) and now civic filters.
Brakes are bled after every track day with nothing but ATE blue but as of now, recommended by the track shop I am trying out a brake fluid by ELF and pedal feel is firmer though wet boiling temps are a little lower.
Here are some pics for your reference.
pic of her in action at Hallett.
pressuring and passing evoX on the track.

clean and spotless head

pic of us getting the engine out from the bottom and a pic of the test pipe
finished engine waiting to be broken in
additional pictures are coming after a detailed wash of wheels and prior to delivery to new owner, i will personally polish and wax the car to bring her lustre back!
price : $6000 pretty firm.
conclusion:
you know this is a bargain deal for a genuine JDM ITR hearted monster with cf goodies all round the car. car comes with the set of konigs on the car and another set of buddy clubs with R-compounds extra. if you add up the street price, of course i know we can't value cars in that way but still, it's amazing to see that for $6000 she's a steal now. in no rush so please don't lowball but still, PM ME A REASONABLE OFFER. thanks!
no joyrides please. but if you are sincere i'll bring you on a nice vtek run.
willing to meet as north as KC or as south as OKC.
