Need help removing stripped Fill bolt on D16z6 5-speed Tranny
So I went out to change the tranny fluid expecting to be done within 30 minutes. Guess I was wrong on that, I didn't even make it past removing the bolt. I thought the bolt was a 17mm, correct me if I'm wrong, so I was using a 17mm socket to remove it but the POS was on so tight the bolt ended up being stripped. We tried everything we could think of even fitting pipe over the ratchet to get better leverage but all that did was ruin the bolt further. So now I'm stuck with a bolt nicely stripped and covered in WD-40 and whatever other oils I could find that may help it get out.
Any ideas to remove it? Or is this a job for a shop?
On the bright side; I tried removing the fill bolt before draining the fluid so It's still drivable lol...
Edit: It's not the threads that are stripped but the corners, which are now rounded off so there's nothing for a socket to grab.

Re: Need help removing stripped Fill bolt on D16z6 5-speed Tranny
Anyone?
I've been fighting with this thing for hours and can't get it. I've tried Vice Grips, Socket Wrench (With pipe over handle for extra leverage), WD-40, Gator Grip (Which seemed to work at first but only stripped the screw even more), and any other tools I could find.
I can't use any power tools because of the Fill bolts location and I don't know how to get it out. Sadly the bolts nearly round...I would try taking a saw to it so I can use a flat head screwdriver but I'd have to drop the tranny and I really don't want to do all that work over a stripped bolt...
Anyone have ANY recommended hand tools they've used to get stripped bolts out before?

You used a 12 pt. socket on it didn't you? lol
And vice grips didn't work? How large of ones were you using? And did you get it tight enough?
If you didn't get it with a socket and ratchet, a screwdriver isn't going to work, in any way, shape, or form...
But in any case... instead of pulling the fill bolt out, pull the speed sensor out and fill through that hole.

Naw, it was a regular 17mm 6pt/hex socket, I don't even think I own any 12pt sockets tbh.

They were good sized vice grips, I had them on the bolt as tight as I could get it but since I'm using jack stands instead of a lift I only have so much room which doesn't help lol...I'll probably get another size larger and try them. But I also had a friend recommend some bolt removing socket set that craftsman makes so I'm gonna try that first.
lol, I guess I can make it easy on myself and do it that way through the speed sensor, the D16z6 tranny takes around 2 qts. right?
Edit: They're around 7" vice grips, largest size I have. I tried adding pipe over their handle for leverage but couldn't fit it under the car

Got the bolt out.
Took me awhile but eventually got it out with the Craftsman Bolt Out kit, thing was on hella tight. I'll have to remember the speed sensor thing in the future incase I have this problem again, good idea. Had to re-use the bolt though lol until I get the replacement in the mail.
Thanks.

For those with 88-91 Civic/CRX cable tranny, you can remove the starter, the the cross shaft access plug and fill thru there.
