GSR tranny problem..pleasee hellp!!!
i have a y80 gsr transmission that has a small problem that got me kind of worried havnt drove it since happend...heres my problem:
driving home from school about a 35 mile drive everything is fine i start getting on tha tranny a little bit downshifting from 5 to 3 and such a few times kind of beating on it seemed fine the whole way home though. when i pulled on to my street i usually back into a spot i stopped went to put the car in reverse and it didnt want to go in so i put it in neutral shook it around then tried again it seemed to slightly go in so i gave it some gas then i heard a quick grind then pulled itself into the gear i parked and then i tried to take it out it was stuck....i had to really tug it out when i got it out i put it through all the gears again to see how they felt all felt fine thenin reverse and i got stuck again and didnt want to come out at allll! i had to pretty much punch it out of the gear all the other gears ar fine only gets stuck in reverse please tell me if u think this would be linkage or tranny itself and if tranny please help me in the right direction i am really nervous and wont drive the car until i fix it or no what it is......
sorry for the long post...and please reply asap thank you very much.

it only doesnt come out of reverse hopefully u are right about the clutch, thanks for the info.....would a bad clutch also make a light howl sound when the cars at idle then i push in the clutch and it goes away
what is tha chance of that sycronizer going bad would make this same problem. On the highway i did kinda grind 5th but it wasnt bad.

As previously stated the humming noise you hear in idle that goes away when you apply the clutch pedal is the throwout bearing. Make sure that you change that also when you install the new clutch kit.
