Not the fluid. COuld be alot of ****.

Sounds like a gay clutch to me.. I had one. Couldnt shift at high RPMs, push clutch in at 9k and let off the gas and car would brake on the motor... Got a twin and havent looked back.

What clutch you running? ANY single with a retarded stiff PP spring is a candidate for what Im talking about.

Its DEFINATELY NOT the RTF.

Yep, sounds like like the clutch disc spit out a spring to me.

I dont hink it spit a spring. Its the spring for the PP itself, not the disk.

Ordered PSO's, got bearings with a BLACK plastic cage.

i dont think a CC twin disk would have this problem... thats what i have.

found a bad bushing on the ball of the shifter... getting carbon syncros and a speedfactory gear selector anyways, its out of the car...

400hp Street/Track car

Which would be the better choice Torco MTF, or Torco RTF, or possibly even a mix between the 2..?

I have a built M2A4 with Mfactory helical LSD. It's ok with the honda mtf but when I did fluid change to synchromesh friction modified, tranny will chatter and I think is coming from the differential. Whin I put it back to honda mtf its good again no chatter. Anybody know why. Thanks

Your TRIPPING, thats why. Its a helical. Theres no way. a fluid is going to affect it, or anything else.

A diff isnt a "built trans" LOL.

Default Third gear Syncros shot after three weeekends of track...

Bizzare wear issues with sychros. I am getting a maximum of three weekends out of freshly rebuilt B16 hydro tranny's on my track car before the second to third gear shift begins to grind. This equates to ~500 miles. Engine is B16 making 170whp @ 9200 RPM, lightly sprung pressure plate, Kaax 1.5 diff. EK Coupe weighs 2350 with me in it.

This season (2011) I have used:
Amsoil MTF 5w30 with friction modifier. Came out black/burnt smelling
Amsoil MTF 75w90 with friction modifier. Came out black/ burnt smellin
Motul Motylgear 75w-90, wasted tranny the quickest, not yet drained.

wtf is going on?

if you have launch control, turn it off. push your clutch in all the way sitting completely still and rev it to 8,000-9,000 if you feel the car moving, the clutch isn't disengaging properly from the pressure plate. To fix it, try to extend the rod on your clutch pedal and try, if it maxes out and you're vehicle still moves then it's either your clutch master cylinder or a bad clutch

Thanks, I get that and sounds like a good test. But wouldn't a clutch disengagement problem show up on any and all gears; and not just picking on the second to third shift?

The car is strapped down on my trailer for the time being and I will test it next time I pull it off. However, I do rev the motor (not to 8-9k) with the clutch in to charge the Accusump and have never noticed any creeping.

The EK has a Kevlar clutch and a flywheel in pristine, near perfect condition.

I'm just running a stock d-series on the daily, the transmission is shot, synchros busted in fact i think my 2nd gear synchro is completely gone, and 3rd gear has to be missing a few cogs. but it gets driven probably 50+ miles a day around town and beaten on quite frequently, been running genuine honda mtf(old formula) and it hasn't been able to hold up. i was looking which weight i would need as well as what brand would be best for this and stumbled across this thread. its running low on fluid as my right axle seal is horrid. and i need some fluid to get me by until snow falls and i can park it before the thing blows. vin matches car, nearly 196k on it, unaware of any rebuild in the past, and also when i drop in my new transmission, which will be completely stock but handling roughly 300whp what fluid would be best?

I'm not competent to drop and open the tranny and know what I'm looking at. So my trusted mechanic will do that and I'll edit/update then. I've got some time because nothing's on my track calendar until February, so this could be early Jan before I get better info.

I am near certain that the last two fluids used (Amsoil and Motul are not the cause of my problem. My post is now off topic to this thread and I cant hijack it. i'll start a new thread if appropriate based on what we learn.
