Hey I put in a new flywheel about a month ago and I just took it out due to some really bad vibrations that started. When I took my flywheel off, I noticed some slight scoring on the face (see pic). Could this be the cause of my shaking?

Also, would I need to get this flywheel resurfaced or can I leave it and just re-install the clutch?

I'm no transmission or clutch guru, but I'll try to offer a bit of help. Was the clutch disk replaced with the flywheel, or was the old clutch used? If the old disk was used, what may of happened was that the disk was worn a certain way (not entirely flat) and when you installed the new flat flywheel, they didn't mat up perfectly causing un-even wear. I'd get the flywheel looked at to see how just how much is gong to need to be taken off for it to be flat, and also consider getting a new disk to go with it.

It's kind of like when you replace the clutch, most manufacturers state that the flywheel MUST be resurfaced (or new) in order for any kind of warranty to be expressed.

that could be, but why would it just randomly start doing this? it was fine for maybe 200 miles after i swapped the clutch then it all started at once. why woulkd it just start all at once? there was no beating on the clutch or anything like that either.

how deep was/is the scoring and who made the clutch

the clutch is an exedy stage 1 organic clutch which is almost new still. The scoring has not penetrated the metal, it just made some marks on the flywheel.

I am still on the stock pressure plate though. Also, when I put the clutch in, I did not resurface the pressure plate face. Is this needed when replacing a clutch? Its surface was still in good condition but I am lost. I attached some pics. Notice some clutch fibers stuck between the pressure plate

just ordered a new clutch set up so we will go from there.

I took it to a shop and they told me it was either the pressure plate or throw out bearing. What do you guys think?

mine used to do that but not any more i have a completion clutch with a act pressure plate

just an update if anyone else has this problem. I found out what was wrong.

My rear torque mount was cracked in half and my rear mount was cracked as well.

The T bracket was so much worse than the mount but here's the mount. How did I not see this earlier

i've been through about 2 flywheels and 3 clutch sets, and my clutch still vibrates upon engaugement. it happened on a brand new exedy stage 2 clutch with oem gsr flywheel for about 20k miles before the imput shaft broke on my trans for the horrible vibrations.., then a spec stage 2 clutch kit on a type r flywheel did the same thing, but not as bad..

no it's the spec pressure plate with act stage 1 disc and the type r flywheel and it doesn't do it as bad. i'm stumped

I have the same problem. The story, 7 months ago, I went for a clutch replacement because the clutch was slipping so bad. The mech replaced the old clutch and also an engine mount that was found to have cracked in various places. The car drove well until recently.Now the car shakes, and my clutch is slipping again. Is it even normal for a car that has had a new clutch installed to start slipping just 7 months on? By the way, the flywheel was not changed for a new one nor was it resurfaced. Could this somehow affect the clutch? Also like disc brakes, is the flywheel designed to be partly sacrificial? If so, how long will one last before a replacement is to be made? I'm stumped... Please help. What should I look out for?

You should always resurface your flywheel when you put a new clutch in. The way that the old flywheel wore will not be as straight as the new clutch. Now your new clutch is shot and you will need a new one because there is no flywheel that matches the wear pattern of your clutch.
