Nope. It doesn't really require any special tools besides, picks, and a press

Awesome job on the rebuild! I rebuilt an identical auto trans 2 years ago and I remember compressing the drum/piston spring with my vise and a cut-off piece of a big PVC pipe laying around. LOL I cut out notches on the pipe to access the snap ring. I wish I took pictures of it.

^^You really need to tear it alll the way down. They are such tight tolerances, that they valves will bind up with even just a little bit of contamination.

If anyone else had trouble with where the feed tubes go (like I did), here's a better diagram of 'em. On pg. 70:

Also, use the torque converter to hold the mainshaft, to torque the mainshaft nut down when you wrap everything up.

Not trying to bring up an old thread but I'm avout to take a chance at rebuilding my bmxa. I also bought a 400 dollar 02 civic lx sedan in mint condition "a cream puff". Well I've done a ton of work building it over the past 5 months and when I got to changing all the fluids the trans fluid was strawberry milkshake. "I did not drive the car at all it sits in my shop & is only moved in & out during work hrs" so I flushed the trans with about 200 dollars worth of fluid before it came out clean and now to day I'm 350 in on fluid & flushing. It drove around the parking lot just fine but once I took it down the road it begain to slip when it got hot. So I got it back to the shop & checked the fluid it was a little pink so I flushed & changed it one more time & it drove so perfectly fine no problems at all & couldn't even feel it shifting until it got hot & started slipping again.

Now it's a high Rev to get it to move in & out of the shop during work hrs and I'm ready to tear it down & rebuild it within a couple of days i wanna pull it rebuild it & get it back in since my shop is single bay & i tint windows for a living & wont be able to book any work for a few days so i can gwt the job done.

How bad was it? I'm very mechanically enclined & have built about 17 civic d series & B series fully built drag cars & fully built show cars but never have i once tore into a trans to rebuild it & its cheaper to buy the rebuild kit, the upgraded valve kit, the upgraded filter & a new torqu converter than it is to buy a used one they may not be good for long.

Anyhow any advise would be greatly appreciated. And when i get some time ill get you all some links to the videos on the tube. Ill start a thread if needed for it as thia car is so clean you can eat off the engine.
