what should i look for when shopping for used cams?
i've been approached by a buyer of some of my parts for a trade of some used type r cams and cash. i've never dealth with cams (new or used) before, so beyond the obvious (cracked in half, holes in them) where should i look to check the condition? i imagine there are sections of each that may wear, i just don't know where.
thanks in advance.

I dunno that much baout cams, but a great way to check someones credability is to see if they are a member of Honda-tech and get people to vouch for him.
Basics of cams:
Look for any lobes that are flat. The cam is junk if any lobes are flat.
If the deal is too good to be true then it probably is and you are getting b16 or GSR cams instead of Type R.
Search for Type R cam specs in the Archives i am sure you can find more info
Oh yeah the tips of the cam lobes will be shiny from wear. If the lobe is shiney all the way around THIS IS NOT GOOD. Good luck
Peace

Time to get out the micrometer. Check for any wear on any of the lobes and the journels. But check all the specs. I don't know the specs for an ITR cam, but they are easy to find.
