Default Water in oil.

Hi guys, I been stripping my spare engine this morning, this engine had water in oil problems, and leaking water pump. I suspected that the headgasket was gone, but on removal there was no obvious signs of any breaches.

The head is being pressure tested with some other work, but im just looking for some ideas on what else could cause this problem?

If the engine has been 'cooked' due to the water pump failure, is there a chance the cylinder liners have moved and the water is getting into the oil here? A pressure test of the block should identify this problem right?

Any Suggs appriciated before i pay for the machine work.

Many thanks

Craig
