Re: Torquing sequence and specs needed for B18B intake manifold... (hybridvteceg)
So i don't need to start from the center and work my way out both ways in a criss cross pattern until the desired torque is reached, like i did on my D16?
"Doesn't really matter", "about 20lbs per", and "tighten them ***** real good", are not the type of answers i'm looking for.
No offense guys, but i only want to have to do this once if you know what i mean...
Anybody have a little more in depth info from a helms or something????

yes you need to tighten them down from the middle out going in a crisscross pattern. The book says torque them to 17ft lbs. hope that helps

yeah but its just a manifold...if u didnt want an answer, then you shouldnt have asked... my answer was, that it dosnt matter what sequence, and about 20 lbs....the book says 17 so i WAS right...

Does it make you feel incompetent because your answer was not satisfactory to me?
Try to see it from my point of view before you go getting your tighty whities in a bunch...

I don't understand why people get so defensive when you ask for a less vague answer?

Start from center out, crisscross pattern, 17 ft flbs. Let's do this the right way. Maybe if we give more accurate answers there would be less threads starting like this: "Help! My car won't idle right"

bro. its not a head gasket, main caps or rod bearings. thread them all down snug and stop. then tighten them by hand until they stop, and about 1/4+ turn each. start from the middle and work your way out diagonally back
for instance but not limited to:
(09) (05) (01) (03) (07)
(08) (04) (02) (06) (10)
This will insure that the gasket seats somewhat evenly.
Its not that critical, this is about the level of attention
you will need to give it.

that being said, your car's idle wont be effected by the IM gasket unless there isnt one. if any stray air gets in there, it will behave like another throttle without a butterfly. the chances of that happening by not getting the TQ spec perfect is nil to zilch
