I just bought an s2000 steering wheel, looks pretty good. Anyway. S2000 to ek is supposed to be plug and play bolt right up.... Wrong. For my case anyway. for some reason it seems my steering column is too far down and the piece that splines in on the wheel cant fit down enough to get the splines in eachother. Anyone else have this problem? Can anyone help?

The only thing im thinking is for some reason maybe someone swapped out steering columns and its from a different car? Anyway, what other steering columns would fit in a 99 dx hatch. Any that ARE NOT compatible with s2000 steering wheels? Let me know, any info would be greatly appreciated...

it bolted right in my car and the horn worked. Im guessing you may have an eg/dc column. I had a buddy who had to put an ek column into his eg to fit an s2k wheel

Thats what i was thinking, its the only thing i can come up with. DAMN.... How hard is it to swap steering columns... i heard its a bitch..

Yeaa mine bolted right in also...you prolly do have an eg column. and its pretty annoying to change the column...not really hard just takes all day maybe 2 days

Damn.. thats a real bummer. I always wanted an s2000 steering wheel but thought i wouldnt have one cuz i couldnt find myself spending so much damn money. Found one cheap as hell and bought it. come to find out its a bust. Really dont wanna swap columns but i guess maybe we will have to..

what wheel did you have in there before? my s2k wheel was a straight bolt on.

ap2 steering wheels are different i believe. do u know if urs is out of a ap1 or ap2? i have ap1 s2k steering wheel in my ek. fits perfectly.

I believe its ap1, but i think both ap1 and ap2 fit fine, the only difference is the airbag set up situation. first i had the stock one then a random ebay one was put on

2 days to swap columns? damn i swapped mine out in like 20 min haha.

but yea, my s2k wheel fits in my hatch. me and glenn can confirm.

if your stock one fit i'm not sure what is causing the new one not to fit. a dc/eg column has a different spline count so an ek wheel would not fit on it.

If youre sure you had an EK wheel in there, then the S2K should definitely fit. I have Ap1 wheel, the only tiny issue is that the spline isnt perfectly straight but an alignment can fix that. Also cruise wont work unless you do some wiring.

Im not worried about cruise really, all that is a different issue. I just cant figure out why it wouldnt fit. Everything was stock and should be unless someone changed it out but i dont think anyone did cuz im pretty sure the wheel was stock also. Thats why i cant figure this out??

you can use the back cover out of a manual transmission 1st gen insight. mine was grey though, not sure if they ever came in black.
