Default Radiators

Hi all,

My car smooked up the other day and theres antifreeze everywhere (passenger side). I don't see any damaged hoses, so it looks like the rad is gone. How often do you believe the issue may be with the water pump? Anyone know where I can buy a radiator in the GTA for the best price? I checked standardauto, they want $200 though...seems steep for a a used rad.

As for coolant, do you guys think prestone premixed is good for hondas/acuras? Or should I always go for honda coolant...is there really a difference besides the jacked up price at honda?

Thanks

www.radiatorbarn.com I've heard decent things about them. The radiators are a common part to go out, usually at the plastic end tanks. You could also use this opportunity to get a nice aftermarket aluminum radiator, but it all depends on what you want to do with the car.

As for coolant, I only like to use the Honda/Acura type 2 coolant that's non-silicate. Other antifreezes will eat away at the aluminum blocks and cylinder heads.

not wise to spend alot on used radiator cause u may run into the same prob real quick also before u go spending a lot of money u first should pressure test the system to know 100% what needs changing. be careful with the pressure tester when testing this system if u have plastic tank ends too much pressure will crack the tanks. do not apply more than 15-20lbs of pressure which should be enough to find your leak. as for the antifreeze i have been an ase certified mech for over 10 years from experience i say do not use red extended life antifreeze as it will rott the radiator but u should be 100% ok with the green premixed never seen a prob with running it in a honda or anything else for that matter. hope this helps
